Aquiss

Did you power cycle the ONT? I wonder if you picked up a different LNS.
Yeah, first thing I did was ONT + router reboot. ~1h later when I connected my MacBook directly to the ONT I didn't restart it, but after that it all went back to normal.

I have a bunch or critical work upcoming and my mouse was hovering over the order button on the VM site.

Had Aquiss since January, Ive only had to reboot my router once so far, when I noticed poor speeds, don't think I've rebooted the ONT yet. In any case reboots normally solve the odd issue.

Has anyone noticed a drop in network stability & support over the past few months? I've had a few random disconnects which I've emailed in about, then when I say it's resolved the case gets closed with no explanation. Not that they owe me anything, but I'd usually get informed what the issue was. I've also got atrocious performance to a public SFTP server, which goes away if I use a mobile hotspot. I've not logged a ticket for this yet though. I also feel like I get a lot of bot checks and when I raised this I was told no one else has reported it.

Might be placebo, might be something.

I've had no disconnects on their CityFibre network for a couple of months (outside of my own tinkering) - doubt they end up going via the same LNS but my line is routing via lns2-ixn.lon.veloxserv.net [195.191.219.24] - if there is something I can pull down and test speed wise drop me the link

No issues to report here on CF network, been fully stable for last 2 weeks since I switched to them using a TP-Link router, that's with using Quad9 for DNS too.

All fine here, no issues since install in January, on BT infrastructure.

Yep, it's been fine for about a week but I've been getting random dropouts that last a few seconds here and there before that with a timeout error log entry in my router. I opened a ticket bit this is where it gets strange. They sent it off to OR to run tests against my line and ONT, and then came back to me and said check your router firmware as all the tests passed, but about an hour after it was reported, I had about 10 minutes of downtime (which was the longest outage throughout the whole thing), and it was fine after it came back up. So someone somewhere did something. It's 99% better now but I have had the odd dropout again but very infrequently. Touch wood it's been fine for a few days now.

I was using it to man math a new router :D

On Openreach here. I'm moving to EE at the end of the month as it works out cheaper for 1.6 Gb and I no longer require a static IP. Will be interesting to see if I notice any difference.

Mines up in October so I'll be moving as well, shame really but the price is just too high.

Once an ONT box is installed I gather it’s fairly straight forward and a little quicker to switch between ISPs when contract is up?

Was with VM and then had full fibre installed in January.

Thinking of swapping over to Aquiss 1Gb Openreach (cannot get anything else at my flat) from No One Internet (formerly Trunk Networks).

I did the same last month as Home Telecom didn't fill me with confidence now they've bought out No One on CF network, Aquiss sorted the swap using OTS and was done within 2 working days.

I only found out that HT had taken over when I went and randomly checked the NOI website. No emails or any form of communications about the changes.

The website still states the following:

We are no longer delivering new residential broadband services for Openreach or CityFibre broadband

As of December 2024 all CityFibre contracts, billing, and support have moved to Home Telecom. They can be contacted via email [email protected] or telephone 01403 216133

For existing Openreach customers, the contract, billing, and support continues to be delivered by No One Internet. We can be contacted by emailing broadband@no one.co.uk

We continue to run our core network for a number of partners and resellers but are no longer delivering new services directly to the residential market.

The few times I have had to contact support have been (at least in the past) entirely through Trunk/No One Internet were always excellent at dealing with matters. The long term situation concerns me, and something as simple as removing any phone number for NOI support is a red flag.
