Arc Raiders

There are some hilarious goings on happening on the North American servers, a guy who goes in with nothing but bandages, shield recharges and defibs and spends the whole round going around healing and reviving people, I've also heard of a guy who plays the part of a Concierge and hangs around at the elevator extraction points, opening the elevators for people, asking them how their day shopping has been and did they buy anything nice, whilst playing elevator music over the proximity chat as he waves them off, apparently he is becoming well known enough that people even drop him an item as a tip :D
I have not seen the guy with bandages yet, but I have seen the concierge videos. I love how some people think outside the normal game play in this :D

The NA servers seem to be a lot friendlier than the EU ones for these type of interactions. This morning was a murderfest with loads of players saying "don't shoot" only to then attack. Had planned to do some quests etc but it was like playing a battle royale the whole time.
I think everyone speaking the same language helps a lot for interactions like that

Thanks for the key @xaldub, it worked there, it just unlocks the back of an armoured car, as discussed it had only 1 lootable gun crate inside and it had an Il Torro shotgun and gun barrel mod. It was the last quest in the chain as well, so quest all done now.

PSA - For anyone that has an armored car key drop for Blue Gate, it's not a "normal" key that gets you into a high security loot room. It's a bugged quest item that is only supposed to spawn during a quest, but has been incorrectly flagged as a normal item which can randomly drop around the map but is extremely rare. If you find one it's good for essentially donating to anyone who runs into the bug with the quest where they loot the key and die before using it. If you don't safe pocket the key immediately and lose it on death it's lost forever. The quest will not respawn this key if you go into the map again. For anyone who hasn't done this quest just make sure to keep the key in a safe pocket at all times, make sure you don't do this quest on a free loadout as it lacks a safe pocket. If you do happen to be lucky an have an armored truck key then save it for any friends who might need it if they already have the bug. Make sure you have safe pockets equipped when you trade it in a round.

I owe Xaldub a beer, and a shotgun! :)

I also solo'd the queens harvester just now and got the legendary blueprints for the Jupiter and the other one. That was intense. They seriously need to fix the bugs in there as well, that's unacceptable for something already quite hard.

Eurogamer just gave this game a 2/5 review due to the use of AI voices.
Which is stupid, you can ping every item in the game and it gives you a voice return, so if they dont use AI for that, some poor slupp has to sit and record "Heres a toaster" , "I found a comfy cushion", "Look a deflated football", for every item in the game, makes sense to use AI for stuff like that.

On top of that, you review THE GAME not the technology used within the game, ie..is it fun to play, does it run well, is the music good, is it atmospheric, are the levels good, is the combat good, does it have replayability, whats the story like, whats the multiplayer like etc. Downrating a game because it chooses to use a certain technology is like downrating Borderlands because it uses cell shaded graphics or downrating Balatro because it uses pixellated graphics.

Ah… I have 4 spare of these I looted off other players down in the blue gate chaos PVP area, assuming I have now ruined these guys experience of finishing these quests. I just figured they were regular keys!

I’m not even progressed that far on the quest line!

Basically yes, until they patch a fix, they are stuck. Luckily as I found out today that's actually the last quest in it's chain, and it was that last chain of quests for me. So other than the cosmetic for the individual quest reward, it's not stopping any further questing. It's a shame for them to fail so miserably at the very last quest and cause everyone a headache.

After some turmoil getting a final Surveyor Vault for the Med bench upgrade (they have a tendency to run off the map), I just killed one on Buried city that dropped 4
Made someone very happy at the extract when I dropped the 3 surplus. I feel I have enough karma in the bank to be a bit of an **** tommorrow :D

Finding this a bit of a slog, the movement is slow, the looting is clunky, spend ages looting to get killed by a team I didnt hear.

I have been loving ABI but this isnt quite hitting the spot.

yea, i've just uninstalled it. done about 30 hours and it just feels off. can't quite put my finger on it, i appreciate plenty of folk are having a blast on it but the pvp just feels like it's been shoehorned in, there's no engagement or excitement in the pvp side for me and while the pve is fun enough, that on it's own isn't enough to keep me engaged.

Not a big surprise, I dont think you've ever been all that enamoured with Arc Raiders have you? Didnt you always prefer ABI? Surprised you even bought Arc Raiders, did you get FOMO'ed ? :D

In other news, for those tracking the concurrent numbers...9pm tonight was 383k, last mondays 9pm was 321k. So numbers are up 60k on the same time on a monday night last week. Looks like its still growing, will be very interesting to see what numbers it posts this weekend given that Tarkov gets its full release this weekend. Wonder if Tarkov will make a dent or whether Arc Raiders will post a 3rd consecutive weekend of record numbers

I would be surprised Tarkov 1.0 / Steam release will make that much of an impact tbh. Its been 9 years since the first alpha release - most people who would be interested will have bought it by now. I can't see BSG doing a "competitive" launch price to tempt fence sitters in either.

I'll be very surprised if the 1.0 release changes anything fundamental about the game either - it'll be pretty much the same as it is now with the new map and main quest line.

Possibly yeah, I also think its quite Milsim'ey and that might put people off, in much the same way that Arma/Hell Let Loose/Squad are less popular that CoD/Battlefield. Being Milsim'ey makes a niche genre (PvPvE) even more niche, so it becomes a niche, niche title. We'll see this weekend though, in many ways Arc Raiders has become A LOT of peoples first PvPvE game and some of them might have heard of Tarkov before and this weekend think "well, I've played Arc, I'll give this Tarkov one a go too"

I only watched a couple of videos and wasnt that taken with it, didnt play the prerelease stuff.

Bought it because the guys I play with wanted to move on from COD but most play with controller so ABI wasnt an option.

Will give it a week or two but something feels off, I think its mostly the movement and stamina system.

On the arc official discord they announced 700k concurrent players over the weekend. Gives an indication of consoles numbers.

I've clocked fewer hours than most here. Enjoying the progression to blue tiered weapons. Battles are more tactical - loving the grenade options.
