Arc Raiders

Turning cross play off seems to work, only had 1 instance of cowards hiding behind stuff watching me kill a rocketeer & then come out and kill me. What they didn't realise is apart from my guns everything valuable was in my 3 safe pockets :D
It does make sense really, I mean if I was forced to do my gaming on a console I'd be angry, miserable and aggressive all the time too :)

Managed to get my 12 mushrooms this morning.

Well combination of this morning and yesterday.

You have to be get lucky with your starting spawn location and be fast to get the spaceport ones.

Last night I got there as two other people clearly doing the same thing arrived, they were all friendly though. If you don't spawn on one of the locations close forget it, they'll be gone.

Also the ones on Dam are usually gone fast.

Also one guy bloody camping the Spaceport spot this morning, he hit me with a ferro at range, but I healed and hit him back with the same, was still at range, I flanked but couldn't obviously see him, so in the end I just backed off. No mushrooms though :(

Anyway glad that's done with.

I need the apricots still but I have the comfy pillows, the apricots are much easier to get anyway I'm not worried.
Apricots are near the mushroom tree. Near the extract there is a tin trailer thing. 3 trees there.

Blue gate is much easier for lemons in my experience, olive grove I think it's called you can get apricots/olives & lemons all from there.

Yup.

Although that area is often busy.

But apricots are pretty easy, I'm sure you needed 5 or something like that for the earlier chicken upgrade and I don't remember it being an issue at all.

The mushrooms however were more of a pain.

Nice one, i’ll give it another go.

Also just firing at the drones randomly doesn't work. You have to target their weak spots, or have heavy enough weapons to punch through their armour plate.

For the flying drones it's the thrusters. Take out a couple and they'll either crash or the next shot will kill them.

Don't attack the Snitch or Spotter drones unless you have upgraded heavy weapons or grenades that can seek, as they will call down reinforcements if you don't take them out quickly.

The walking Arcs have various weak spots in the legs and often in the rear. The bigger ones you really need someone to 'kite' them so you can get behind to target the weak spots.

If drones spot you, either hide in bushes, or better still get inside a building. They are very smart though, and will try to get to you from any angle they can, so be wary - they can and do get behind you. These aren't your normal dumb AI pathfinding enemies that get confused by enemies in cover.

i dont know the names of the different drones yet - also i have not ventured out of the damn area - however i have noticed how accurate the flying drones are. also noticed it takes more than an entire mag to take down a drone which means they always do damage on me before they pop. i had assumed the red light on them was the weak point, i shall give hitting their thrusters a go next time (it makes sense tbh)

i have only seen 2 other mechs in the game, 1 was a tiny face hugger from alien sized thing and that was ok, and 1 giant spider thing about the size of a transit van or box lorry. i just brave sir robined when i saw that!.

Quick question for those who have played for a while.
Does the game continue to give you missions, or do you get to a point where they are all done and then the only point of playing is just "because"?

I ask because i like to feel i am part of a narrative so having an npc give me quests to do and have some form of unfolding narrative i really like.... but if they are just essentially acting as a prolonged tutorial then i suspect it will get old after a while.

for now however i am really digging it.

PS i finally got a dog collar , my chicken is now level 2 :D

Wasp & hornet are the main two flying ones you'll see. You've probably seen the 'snitch' as well which is the flying recon one, beeps a lot, basically you want to destroy it if it spots you as fast as possible otherwise it calls in hornets and wasps.

The wasp has 4 thrusters that help it hover, just shoot two of these and it'll drop quickly. The Hornet has 4 thrusters too - but the front two are armoured - so its best to shoot the ones on the back. Again, just destroy 2 thrusters and it'll drop quickly.

For the Hornet it fires a little taser that deals damage and stuns you - but you can dodge it pretty easily provided you wait for the audio cue. If it hits you with the stun and you're in the open you can get a bit shafted. Once you get a bit more experienced you'll find taking them down in isolation is pretty easy, it's when you have 4 or 5 on you at once that it can be a real nightmare.

I've not finished the missions yet and I'm level 55 odd... But I'm also not majorly focusing on them and instead just playing the game / doing bench upgrades and will do the missions/quests as I come across them.

There are apparently 63 base quests - and they've added more now with the new map too - so I think they'll continue to add them with each update.

Interesting seeing all the complaints about PvP in a game which seems very much centered around PvP and actually having risk v reward

Trammel all over again!

Did they use AI to train them, like they trained the walkers to walk?

I think it's because it's mechanically and thematically a decent game regardless of PvP..... and those of us who don't like PvP can't see any reason why having a separate PvP mode would affect PvP players - other than it possibly increasing the quality of the PvP in the game as it will remove the "easy" targets of the players who will never shoot 1st.

if the majority want PvP then it won't harm the PvP modes.
I DO see a huge argument against toggles which makes people in the same instance as PvP players, immune to PvP damage etc as that would be very 4th wall breaking .
but does it really matter to a PvP player if I don't play the game at all OR if I play in a PvE server?

like I said the only thing I can see is in the short term the removal of an easy target, but potentially in the long term the removal of that player from the game full stop meaning no more purchases for the dev.

risk Vs reward can be a think in PvE. games too. for me I just hate the whole "I am friendly ..... shoots you in the back". mainly because I don't want to be that player so it constantly puts me at a disadvantage.

PvP is fine; if you're doing missions, take a free loadout - it doesn't really matter if you die. If you really want to go all in PvP or squad up for bigger rewards, equip yourself correctly and do just that.

Think I'm going to give it a break for the morning/day, had one good raid on Buried City and got some decent items, then 3 bad which ended in me dying. First was on the dam, someone hit me with a Ferro in hindsight I should have just opened up with the Stitcher but instead tried to high tail it and took another hit, then they dropped me. Another I saw someone taking damage from drones, so I chanced it and took them out......yes, my bad side showing through for which I got my comeuppance someone one shotted me with a Ferro (I was already injured). And the last was a Rocketeer, I should have steered clear, instead I tried to run wide.....damn those things can move fast when they've got you locked in.

On all three I lost a fully upgraded Stitcher and Aphelion, going to have to do a few runs with free loadouts to rebuild parts.
