Arc Raiders

Not that any one cares but I had another bash at this earlier today. Played about 5 or 6 games.

Bumped into one person and tried to shoot him but he managed to escape while one of those big spider drone things came towards and instantly killed me.

Then after that, didn’t bump into anyone and managed to get back every and collected stuff each time as well as completing a couple of quests.

Getting into it now!

Discovered a great way to play the night maps. Just load up with a Looting 2 backpack which has two safe pockets, a shield, and possibly a bit of healing / shield regen... and no weapons. Yes NO WEAPONS!

This takes almost nothing to craft, and you can spawn in knowing that a) You don't care if you die, and b) You have two safe pockets to save valuable blueprints or loot even if you do die.

Then you dash to the high loot areas and try to fill your pockets, and find blueprints. I walked away with a Wolfpack blueprint in one run.

I been trying this mate and no luck. I know its all RNG, last run even had a control tower key and nothing great in there.

I probably did 10 runs now not a single blueprint :(

I found my 1st blueprint. luckily it was a time when I had a lock pocket on me which made extraction a little less scary. I won't be building it any time soon as I think I need a level 3 gun bench.
my inventory is full. it's one area I dislike on this sort of game. inventory management and knowing what to save, what to sell and what to recycle.

I wonder if the Devs couldn't implement some form of auto inventory highlighting option such that we could build a set of loadout which we like and then when out scavenging any items which would help to add to that build if we are below a certain amount of them in our loot stack get highlighted. kind of auto shopping list!

yes it's nothing which can't be done on a spreadsheet but the moment a game becomes more about managing a spreadsheet i start to lose interest.

Last game of the night yesterday, went in as a duo on free loadout, pretty normal. Within first two minutes I find a blueprint for the snap hook.. had to say to my buddy "I need to extract" and avoid the nearby explosions and rats making it a tense couple of minutes (especially as a rocketeer was getting tetchy nearby).

I'd like to see something like three loadout templates you can create.
Then between rounds you one click the template you want to use, and if you have all the items or materials to craft them in your stash then it creates the loadout.

It would still need a warning box for dismantling materials to craft items for your layout (with obligatory "don't show this message again" check box), and I wouldn't expect it to buy items from traders for you.
But it would go a long way to reducing the repetition between rounds.

I don't think it's essential, but it would definitely be a real quality of life feature.

I think there's a lot that still needs polishing, like needing to back out of scrappy's menu after he says your inventory is full, because he can't tell that you've now made space.
Or the clanky vaulting and jumping and weird collisions that happen every now and then on rocks and other ledges.
Then there's the lack of access to the workbench when you ready up, requiring you to back out of a couple of pages or attempt to 'upgrade' a weapon just to access the workbench menu (which you can't do if both guns are already lvl four).

I'm still really enjoying the game, but there is definitely work that needs to be done that should have been highlighted and addressed during play testing.

It will be interesting to see if they add to what benefits wiping your character gives you, as more incentive to do so might be required. I do my dailys every single day and because 90% of my runs are friendly and nobody kills me, I am now absolutely caked in loot. My stash is chock full of high gear, I have almost 2 million coins in the bank, because I do my dailys every day without fail I have almost 3000 feat points stored up , which means I'll be able to buy up most things (if not everything possibly even) in any newly added deck. I have 4000 raider tokens and my expedition is fully done. Currently what I tend to do is go into maps carrying nothing at all, not even a weapon, trot about, grab good loot and get out , for example I went into Stella Montis this morning with no items at all and came out with some blueprints, and epics Bettina, Tempest and Bobcat, considering I had no shield, no nades etc, no way of healing, anyone could have dropped me in a shot or two at most and taken that lot but with so many friendlies I was able to just run about dont shooting and then extract with it all :D

(It does sort of also highlight the issues that they would need to solve with any potential PvE mode, there would need to be WAY more Arcs and they would need to be way stronger too, without the chance of someone killing you it would take no time at all to reach the point that I mention above, you'd be covered in loot/feat points/stats etc in less than a weekends play)

This image might not work sorry if it doesn't.

Anyway I walked into a tiny little room at the bottom of blue gate somewhere and 3 dead raiders there.

Must have been a quite a fight that was on solo.

Also managed to take down a couple of Rocketeers today, I somewhat cheated using Wolfpacks but for the record you need 2 Wolfpacks to take one down.

Also becoming a fan of the Anvil.

That room is like loot haven on Blue Gate. Usually get a weapons case, 2 security lockers, 4 blueprint cases. Often tends to be a big fight for it!

I took down a Rocketeer with just an upgraded Ferro today. Then I tried to take one down with a wolfpack and got wiped out. Just need one more core to upgrade a workstation - then Ironically I will be able to craft wolfpacks.

absolutely. the important thing is the "bones" of the game are good, all the rest can be tweaked and improved as the game goes on.

and it is so ridiculously popular at the moment that I can imagine the Devs shouldn't have too much of a case to make to continue supporting it for the foreseeable. Between this and Helldivers 2 I am personally in a happy place gaming wise

Yup put is this was the developer will be in a good place right now.

I can see the game being developed further going forward, I think in a year it will be double in terms of maps, content items etc.

You can get the cores from downed rocketeers when it's the "husk graveyard" event. I got mine from the battlegrounds area on the dam map.
Incidentally I was on my way to take out a rocketeer with a ferro it was on fire and I was in a good spot but another raider killed me.

This game is becoming unhinged lmao. The reddit has fallen into serious disarray as people are psychoanalyzing others for their actions in game. Earlier today I killed some looter in a high loot zone getting his fill, and after I knocked him out he added me on steam moment after to whine at me.

I think we're seeing the beginning of the end for the casuals now.
