Arc Raiders

Do you do the "don't shoot" thing? I've had countless encounters with people who are also just trynna do quests, and a quick "don't shoot" usually de-escalates things very quickly. I'd say 80% of my encounters are friendly, the other 20% are just knobs who kill for the lols.

That said I'm always on high alert if anyone's silent or not responding. Usually my spidey senses are correct.

I also talk a lot on my mic, and have had quite a few very interesting encounters as a result. Some outright hilarious ones too.
Always "Hey Raider, dont shoot". 80% of the time its fine however its felt a bit off since the last update. People feeling a bit more hostile. Maybe I've just been unlucky, updates always drags lots of people back.
I run a zero trust policy, it takes an actual act of assistance or friendlyness to disarm me. Not one to cut about without weapon drawn ever.

I'm not set up for ingame chat to speak. I do have a headset but I despise wearing it. Not that it matters even if I did nobody would understand my Jockenese anyway, "Alright paaalll!!! Dinnie shoot!!!"

I highly recommend whacking that headset on, talking to people makes a huge difference in this, so much so that I rarely even use the emotes anymore, I speak to people instead, almost always leads to an actual conversation, even spoke with a few Scots :D

There is definitely a spike in backstabbing or pvp ambushing in past week or two. Its by the design so nothing shocking but the shift is quite noticeable now that blueprints have been learned and the quests have been done. Shall be interesting to watch how embark try and balance the whining against the genuine issues going forward.

We're entering the final week of the season now and I expect everyone is going to be wanting to spend a lot of their saved up weapons before the wipe. My prediction is next week, rares and epics are going to be exchanging hands constantly. You may not see a lot of this if you're running free kits though. Then the week after reset we'll see all the tryhards back to free kits tearing it up to get their stash started again. So there's probably a few bumpy weeks ahead if you're new or used to more trusting gameplay.

Yea, people will get bored/run out of other things to do. While I think the overall game concept is great, PvP is always going to be a pain point for growth since it isn't just a PvP game.

The human element is always hard to balance and completely unpredictable. Having an option to disable PvP, or PvE-only servers could work but with the caveat that you can't do it all of the time i.e. if you wanted to do a quest but have been ganked on the last 5 attempts, you could opt out of PvP. I'm sure they have the necessary data to understand whether this would actually benefit the game though.

Been killed twice this morning both noobs was helping them out then turned around shot me in the back.

EDIT: Both times rather annoyingly I had some quite good stuff, mainly my weapons.

Yup, my plan for the end of this season is to use up all my saved up high gear and use up all my keys before launching my expedition, going to be a fun time in the coming week ! :)

this is the thing. anyone who wants to argue "realistic" or human nature, I have no counter. the reality is humans who are dishonest WOULD say don't shoot then shoot people in the back, there wouldn't be much honour between strangers - which is daft. in the arc raiders game universe if people actually worked together they would reclaim their land back against ARK without doubt.

but this is a game and as such , whilst I don't expect players to announce "I will kill you" I don't think there is any need to act a coward and let players work against killing the big bots then ambush them, or say don't shoot before killing them after being helped.

I realise I am in the minority tho which is why I generally don't play mixed PvEvP games.

I fancy squadding up and playing a bit of a bad guy, but if I do it will have to be with people I know under the agreement we are straight out bad guys. we don't do the whole "don't shoot" gank but just go full terrorist.

Hold on. We're losing all our gear? I knew there was a voluntary wipe via the expedition, but is everyone going to lose their gear/stash?

No, the only people who lose their stuff and their character levels and reset their quests etc, are the people who voluntary opt to do the expedition. Anyone who doesnt do the expedition keeps everything as is.

They would but history is littered with examples of times when problems would be solved if people worked together and instead they worked against each other. So its not actually all that daft, in fact I firmly believe that if there was an apocalyptic scenario in the real world you would see humans doing it again (working against each other instead of together), its the way humans have been from the start of humanity right up even to our current world situations, ie, we probably could have solved the climate issue and cured goodness knows what diseases and probably could have colonised the moon/mars by now, if we had worked together instead of against each other. People killing other people in order to get the goods they have is precisely what I think would happen in a real life apocalypse.

I took about five attempts to get that quest done where you go spaceport, shipping docs then to the building in the middle for the second part. Every time I died was down to a camper in the second building. This was spread over a couple of weeks trying it as I did it solo when friends weren't about.

We noticed as we have been going for the arc parts from purple larger bots, that a group would always go in to sabotage someone on the map doing this - so it takes a few episodes till you get aware and start booby trapping the scene and getting your squad able to adjust to this dynamic.

I think part of the reason I've been having a lot of grief is that I'm trying to complete missions that are forcing me to go to certain hotspots or takes me through risky territory instead of just following the natural flow of a resource raid. I tend not to carry any high level kit for missions so its not like I'm losing anything of great value. However its still very frustrating having to attempt a mission 3 or 4 times especially one that makes you traipse to opposite ends of the map. Its also very resource sapping.

This happens in most games. When I was playing fortnite any form of quests or areas for loot spawn had the same behaviour. When you play your own way and naturally move around the maps you will be less exposed unless your one of them pushy aggressive types that are used to that style.

Just use free loadouts when doing quests, lay low, hide as much as possible and if you bump in to other players just say don't shoot. Odds are they're doing the same quest as you. Yes it can take a few goes but that makes it all the more rewarding when you finally get them done.

I often do but it severely limits looting and no safe pocket if you happen upon something valuable. Also cant carry a hatch key.

Definitely more hostile out there today.

Time of day makes a MASSIVE difference. This time of day the game will be full of kids, who follow streamers and are much more ruthless. I find that around 8pm is when the kids start buggering off and the grown ups start to play more, that things calm down a lot.

My mum said I can stay up until 10 tonight so should be fun.
