Arc Raiders

Saw this video the other day. Found it rather interesting to watch (only 6:40 short)

The video sort of ran away and the poor chap got a bit of a shock as it reached 20K+ views in 2 days ! So he posted some comments he found funny..

On another note, these two chaps did something hilarious in the game ! Also wondering if any of you crazy ones done it as well ?? :p

Thanks for all the replies, guys.

I ask because my only real experience of anything similar would be The Division that I played years ago. I used to enjoy the missions against AI to get "loot" but I didn't enjoy the "Dark Zone" or whatever it was called, it basically put me off the game and I never went back to it.

I don't get much time to game so the thought of spending that 30 mins one evening to potentially have it be wasted doesn't appeal. Not that I'm against PvP. I play BF6, but there aren't really any consequences if you get killed in that, you keep all unlocks, progress etc in that session regardless.

Only have around 10 hours in this so far, but enjoying it. First few games I joined I ended up instantly getting ganked though, not fun!

If the DZ put you off The Division, then I'd genuinely consider whether this game is for you.

You will get killed by other players. A lot. And lose all your stuff.

From that piece of text, I'd say its not a title for you yeah.

Trying to gauge whether I'd like this game or not.

Couple of questions -

How often do you see other players when out scavenging? Is it possible to avoid others?

Is there another way to extract that doesn't involve those elevators? I'm sure I've seen someone mention keys and hatches? Is this a viable option?

Depends entirely on factors like how long you spend looting, the longer you push it and the higher loot zones you go into the more you will run into other players. It's possible to avoid others to a degree.

Yes, there's another way to extract. They're called hatches, they require a hatch key which can either be bought once per day, or made with the right components (they're on the expensive side for new players)

The bottom line - and I can't stress enough, this is a PvP game, the point is PvP. All the things you loot, they're ALL for PvP, if you're playing to loot like that has some intrinsic value, it doesn't. If you're going to get mad to the times you lose your kit then you simply won't enjoy this. Players can kill you at any moment and take your stuff, doesn't matter if you're sneaking and one randomly runs up on you, doesn't matter if you're in some epic ARC battle. You have to be OK with this otherwise you're essentially going to rage quit the game.

If you take free kits and act friendly the odds of friendly encounters go up, but the rules above still apply. A friendly can shoot you in the back at any second. People playing friendly all the time come to expect friendly all the time and when it swings the other way I see a lot of moaning on the reddit and other places. My prediction still largely stays the same, it will devolve into almost entirely PvP, so i wouldn't buy the game under illusion that it will provide like a safe PvE environment.

Just the other day me and fellas from this forum went for trials scores on spaceport and people knew and deliberately stayed just to kill us as we tried to extract knowing it would deny us our score. To the point where they sacrificed their own lives to the timer running out. Ironically we got out with me DBNO in the elevator, 1 dead and the 3rd alive, so we were largely successful and that was a great high. You have to accept that highs and lows are 2 sides of the same coin.

Yup, thanks guys. I don't think this will be for me. I just don't have the time to invest in that type of game. Think I'll just stick to BF6!

Really enjoying the solo play on this, first game I've bought in years. Trying to find the damn dog collar for the chicken though. 10 hrs in and haven't been shot at once by a player

I found mine in the residential districts on the Dam. Up at Pale Apartments, Ruby Residence or Pattern House. Have seen others at those places too after I found it the first time.

Upgrading Scrappy can be a pain, when it comes to the fruit & mushrooms wait for a Lush blooms event on Buried city and search for the baskets rather than harvesting from the trees, these contain multiple types in quantity. There are a good number of baskets around the edges of the map, a couple of runs with a free loadout and you'll probably be covered.

I really enjoyed my time in Arc Raiders, it was defo a nice change of pace from Tarkov. Was interesting the amount of friendly people. I'm waiting until I can expedition, however, until then I don't think I'll play, I didn't really feel there was much to chase. I will play it a lot more casually next expedition.

My simple question to anyone who isnt sure if they will enjoy the game or not is this ... Will you throw your toys out of the pram if you play for 30mins and then someone kills you and takes all the stuff you just spent 30mins collecting. If the answer to that is Yes, then avoid the game, if the answer is No then play and enjoy :)

Spot on, and if you're going in asking about whether or not you can avoid people whilst scavenging, and avoid the main method of extracting, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you're already approaching it with the wrong attitude, and it's not going to be the game for them.

Quick Q. Is there bullet drop in this? I noticed using the anvil I would miss compared to the ferro
Yea there is.

Edit: with the anvil there’s also bullet spread to consider - you need to let the reticule come back into position after each shot with the anvil if you want accuracy at range.

wow first game on solos for ages.

On the US server, crossplay off.

First guy starts shooting me a Ferro, I only have a ferro, I took him down. He had a sticher and level 2 augment everything.

Trying to get hornet damage and some other guy shoots me again this time kills me.

2 hostile players first round in, this game is changing.....

I mean I went in with nothing so no big deal, but to see that many people shotting me in such a short space of time.

Yup for sure, I've been running custom kits to burn through some more of my greens and blues before the wipe and the games tonight on the UK servers were all shoot on sight. More people camping extracts with traps. This was pretty predictable, but honestly I'm liking it, it was too boring with everyone being constantly nice. The last bastion for PvEers will be free kits only where there's obviously gear based matchmaking (Despite Embark denying this). But after the wipe and the PvP guys go back to free kits for a bit while they re-level, I think that's going to be an utter blood bath and really be the final nail in the coffin for casuals. That's when we'll see the player count drop to more of it's long term position.

I'm enjoying the chaos to be honest, it was way too nice with everyone getting in line for bunker consoles and stuff. I'm enjoying the adrenaline rush of PvPing more. The problem before with half and half was testing if people were friendly usually guaranteed them the opening salvo and put you at a disadvantage. Now with a more shoot on sight mentality you don't have to worry about any of that. Also people are more chill about it, you get way more gg's if you down someone, rather than complaints about being a "rat", the moaning and bickering we see on Reddit and all the psychological analysis of players PvPing for the fun of it had become UNHINGED. Some players are even refusing to take free kits because they dont want to give their killer anything if they get into a fight and that they'll use safe pockets to just get bit of gear out at a time. The Reddit dads are not dealing with this transition well at all.

We'll see if this is fun enough long term to keep playing, I still have fun, but the cracks are showing and Embark have been both slow and incompetent at fixing them, they're going to have to take this seriously to retain players longer term

It's not putting me off the game, I quite enjoy the PVP element on duos or squads.

It's putting me off playing solos though, particularly with it being TPP, you can sit sit in some dark corner behind something etc that isn't fun to me, either way around.

I think you are right though it will start putting people off.
