Arcade High Scores! Current Game: SMASH TV - COME ON IN!

Isn't that the same with most arcade games anyway? So long as we are using one credit, it shouldn't matter.

I'll check the game out later but I thought when scores didn't reset, most machines added +1 to the score? Or is that just specific machines?

I guess with everyone using dedicated hardware and joysticks future games should be limited to such controllable games. So out goes games like outrun, hangon, pole position, road blasters, after burner. Some of my faves there.

Suppose so long as the game is easily controllable through different means, then it should probably be fine.

Personally haven't been having a great last few weeks, so haven't even tried StarWars out much. I did have one go where I attempted to use my DuelSense 5 controller but for some reason, the cursor was centred off the to the left and haven't figured how to make it central.

One thing I have been thinking about though is the systems. @JoeBoi picked out Silent Scope's arcade mode on the Dreamcast. How many people would have access to another system to play if something if the chosen game wasn't on a arcade cab?

Is this something people are open to? If so, I'm sure there are plenty of games on consoles with arcade modes, so we could start allowing that. Or should we try and keep it purely cab based? Wiki seems to tell me Silent Scope was first released in Japan on a cab, although doesn't appear to be apart of mame set.

Next Game Is...

Going sleep now so will update OP tomorrow.

Managed up to 26,000 so far. I find tanks tricky that end up facing you head on. I just can't seem to manoeuvre out of the way in time and turn to get a shot off before they shoot me down.

I'm not very good at Pit Fighter, only managed $11,970. I try grabbing in round one and just can't seem to get the hang of doing it consistently.

Also going to go back and try the games I missed. Managed 17,000 on Side Pocket which was fun! Probably going to go back to that one.

Also tried Strikers 1945 II, I love these types of games but do tend to find them fairly difficult.

This week's choice goes to @Metalface Mark!

I've now freed myself from Steam and most modern store fronts, to concentrate more on other things and playing retro games. So this week I will be aiming for the top spot!

9,170 so far. Seems like I constantly have to keep my eyes on my ship more than anything, or I'm going to be taken out by a shot from nowhere!
