Arctic Freezer III now available.....

The good thing about being able to take crappy photos is that they hide my even more crappier cable management...

....at least I have managed to get rid of a piece of bluetak, finally.
Managing to fit the 420mm radiator as far to the left as possible has reduced the stretch a little for the pipes.
Considering, afaik, that the AF range of AIO's have the longest pipes, or at least advertise their length, I would not want to try a different brand..!
AF being 450mm in length. One Alphacool 420mm AIO has 350mm pipe length.!

@Simon42 I think of it as the contact frame being better than not having one at all, rather than, at this stage, being necessarily the best available.
For me that made enough sense to buy into the rev III at the price that it can be bought for now.
If AC decide at some point in the future to change their CF I am edging my bets that it will either be offered to those having bought the cooler with the earlier revisions for free, or at a discounted price.
Waiting for a revision, could also mean a revision to the price....
Ifs and buts, I know.

I do prefer to control my fans through software, the software could use the BIOS settings, if set.

Then again I am using individual cables for control, perhaps more because of the novelty than the need...

With all the fans being pretty low, the system is all but silent when running light loads etc.
I can hear the pump, but only when it is running at a much higher speed.
Perhaps those who are noting it are, like me, controlling it manually for the first time.

I tried to fit one to a X670E Gene, despite the Arctic website saying it was compatible it blocked access to the PCIe slot. Doh!

Did look like a nice bit of kit though.

I gave them a ring to check on the connections when I was fitting mine, great to help. However you should contact them and mention it, especially as the board you noted is on their compatibility list.

How annoying for you, going through that to find it could not fit.

Good luck on getting it back in that triangular shaped box, I needed to take lots of photos of the unboxing, that helped. Well it helped my wife to do it for me :D

Looks good mate. I should be setting mine up next week

Thanks, all the best when fitting yours. What size did you go for?

Looking at my case, and all the room on the right, I'm reminded that not long ago that would be filled with a single 5.25" bay and a stack of 3.5", all full of mechanical HD's.

Corsair made some use of it, as a rear panel for more fans in certain cases they make.

Silly q but not sure I saw it covered in the GN review - obviously you are meant to use the supplied contact frame but is there something fundamentally different from the TR/TG contact frames that would prevent you using them instead?

You would not be able to screw the block into those contact frames due to how the supplied one is designed, with the fitting holes for the block in the centre.

If I ever get a case one will fit in, I will be too I think.

Good luck on that. Whilst my Meshify 2 XL is somewhat large, understatement, it does come into its own for room to fit AIO's etc.

That's cool. I'm using Argus monitor too. Your board has an impressive amount of fan ports.

I like that this new version looks better than the old one, the cpu block and pipes are a big ugly on II.

Thanks, IIRC it has a total of six fan headers, each one capable of supporting 2A, even though the pump header is running on the designated port it could have gone on any of the others.
I never thought of it has having a lot of headers, probably something that I would need to look for at some point in the future when it is being changed.
Argus monitor is also controlling the RGB aspect of the AIO. I have been impressed with it for some time now, great software that gets regular updates.

Arctic are really knocking it out of the park with these. My new go to for friends and family rigs!

I just would have kicked myself missing out on the price they have been sold at and waiting until I needed one.

Dont be too hard on your self it was the only thing I dont like about the original and its a welcome site in the III.

Yup, I'm happy enough leaving the pump at a relatively low speed. Whilst watching the GN review it was noted that the III revision could have the potential to be a little nosier than the II. I don't have means to test one against the other but, with manually controlling the three types of fans, it is nice and quiet in use. When under heavy load it is usually the GPU that is also loaded and the 4080 fans are noticeable, not in a bad way.

The 420mm, if I left the vcore settings on default, as well as the power limits set default in the BIOS, would be pushed to keep the 14700k cool IF being pushed with the likes of CB23 etc. But, as I undervolt the CPU, and it is not used in anything like CB23, the 420mm does a great job. My 420mm is in the roof, I would doubt that the pipes would be long enough to front mount it in my case. With intake fans on the front, and base, with an exhaust fan a tthe rear, all running quietly, it is cool and quiet enough.
Until summer......

"fo-fan" (?). The non RGB has zero RGB plugs and no lighting. The outer fan effect on the pump housing, the look, is just black. The VRM fan is internal to the fan effect look. On my A-RGB version it is coloured white, I suppose so that the RGB lights emit light through it.

I have only seen photos of the non A-RGB type. I get the impression that the shroud / cover for the non-RGB one is very different in how it is built. The lights within that cover of the RGB one radiate out to the fake fan fins, being translucent white. The core of it containing the RGB LED's.
Probably similar to the fans being different for the radiator between models.

@humbug To be frank, I can't say that, for me, getting the A-RGB version was worth it. From an aesthetic point of view. I can't see anything at all in terms of RGB for the fans, the radiator being in the top of the case, which in turn is placed on the floor. The radiator is set above the fans so all you see from the outside is the black of that.
The small circular block fan is.....................kinda mediocre, but ok I suppose. At least that can be seen. Only mediocre compared to much more expensive other offerings for displays on an AIO - if that is what you want.
The cheap set of RGB lights x4 strips that I bought from Amazon, plug into the motherboard, have been far more effective.
Overall, I would now have bought the Non A-RGB type for the 420mm at £71 than the the RGB type at £83. The 360mm being just under £67.

I do surprise myself, typically being adverse to garish flashing or pulsing RGB, that I have what I have in my case. But the lighting is there, static, even the "RTX" on the 4080 GPU, in white - not figured how to change its colour, or care to.

I just didn't want you to think about the cost being a factor, not knowing how long this "special" price is going to run for. I just couldn't see a AF II 360 keeping at £67 or a 420mm at £71 for that long. 23rd year anniversary or something for AC.

I must have missed the specials that Jensen offered last year, when Nvidia celebrated their 30 years in business. Perhaps we all did, miss them that is.
