Are all the claims for a 5.1 jailbreak rubbish

Back up in iTunes. Download Absinthe v2.0.2 and click jailbreak.
Done

Then look up online guides (youtube fantastic) for beginners guide to Cydia.

So it has to be connected to the PC for the jailbreak or is that a local download to the handset?

EDIT: OK got it all I think, thanks

Thanks for the other bits ;) will have a look tonight

Bitesms only says its giving me a trial til next month. How do I pay if I want keep and how much. Not liking the fact it shows me the entire message on my screen first though. Can I disable that?

Can i recommend DREAMBOARD

Its basically like winterboard only better! Download a skin / theme for it called OS7 revive! Makes your phone look like Windows Phone which i kind of like.

You can get other skins / themes too. Loads of them on cydia from xsellize.

Dreamboard is awful I found. It transforms the phone completely meaning you have to basically love the theme you are installing! Its one entire unit!

I much prefer the minor changes here n there to get the look I love. Besides dreamboard is a total resource hog.

Why not buy a windows phone?

Have you seen their app store ?? shesh thats reason alone not to buy one lol

I like playing around. I dont always have the OS7 theme, i like trying others too.

i must admit though it does see like my phone is getting rather hot and using a lot of battery power....i tried going back to the original iOS theme but i imagine as its running in dreamboard that its still using a lot of resource? Any help on this would be good cheers.

I'm tempted to jailbreak my phone because it looks so easy.

How easy is it to reverse the process, say if an official update includes something awesome?

I assume you can't sync with Itunes? How do you copy music etc to the phone?

Think you can sync with iTunes just not upgrade any of the handset software

You can sync, download a app from cydia called App Sync 5.0 this will allow you to sync apps.

Yes you can do an official update, this applied if you need to return your phone to apple it should remove evidence of a Jailbreak. Just connect to itunes, back up then restore.

If I jailbreak then decide I want to go back to the standard 5.1.1 how would I go about this?

From what I understand, restoring from iTunes doesn't revert you back?

Well last time i was on 4.1 on my old iP4 i JB but certain things wernt working. I connected to iTunes, restored and cydia was taken off so i assumed it reverted back to vanilla.

I havnt done this with my new iP4s and the new 5.1.1 Jailbreak maybe somebody on here has? I dont see why it wouldnt restore to vanilla though.

It's just all the guides I've read tell you to restore from itunes after jailbreaking.

Can you backup via iCloud and restore from iCloud after you have updated and JB 5.1.1? I want to set up iPhone as new once I upgrade to 5.1.1 and only really want to be able to restore my messagers/contacts and notes not bothered with games saves etc...
