People don't seem to realise this, Obama is the single most left wing guy in the democrat party, he voted against lots of legislation most democrats found to be extreme and, honestly, stupid.
In America(and elsewhere) they have a tendency to swing like a pendulum thats having weight added to it, they swing one way further than ever before, then they swing back the other way further than ever before.
Palin also didn't hurt McCanns chance of being elected, most people couldn't give a toss about the VP, the thing that got Obama elected was being democrat, every time a president has the kind of approval rating Bush had, the election ALWAYS goes the other way, really no matter who was in charge.
Thats the problem, Obama won by being a democrat, not being black, not for the promises he made, just for not being Bush/republican. The fact he's pretty much done absolutely nothing while in power, and realised his promises were ridiculous, half the country who did just view Obama as the obvious choice, now think he's basically a liar, and now want to swing back the other way.
Palin almost certainly won't win a nomination if she ran to be a candidate, but whoever wins for the Republicans will likely not do much with their insanely bad debt and it will swing to someone even more left wing than Obama.
The ridiculous thing is, Obama could have just not promised more than he could deliver, and he's still have won, and wouldn't be having the "wheres the crap you promised" backlash he's now getting.
Its exactly the same way we in the UK vote Labour back in after Conservatives half fix our economy, we forget who caused it and swing back the other way. A lot of countries swing back and forth from election to election, people over react and even worse, most people have no idea how long term changes won't happen over night, in 4 years they'll be blaming Conservatives for the debt, forget it was Labour that made it, and 4 years later we'll vote the Conservatives in again wondering how Labour increased the debt even further again.
People are stupid, not american's, not english people, just people in general.
The worst problem for the USA and the UK, is too many stupid people are allowed to vote, and actually become politicians. If Palin didn't have boobs, no one would have elected her brain dead moronic ass for anything, except you know, a PTA commity or something.
