reading these forums, anyone could be led to believe that arsenal are head and shoulders above the rest of the teams in this country.

this begs following questions:

why are they only 2 pts ahead of 2nd place chelsea?
why have they lost 4 games this season (man utd lost 3)?
why did they start losing games, in the last stage of the champ league?
why did they lose 5 games in a row?

does this sound like the best team? if it does, i would hate to see what the worst team would be.

some predictions:
personally, i think man utd will win the league by at least 5pts:

arsenal have peaked already, just like i said 2 months ago and wont get any better.

chelsea will fade as the season wears on (just like everton)

liverpool....lol.

lets wait and see what happens.

Thats cos when you rely on Terry Henry everyweek you aint got a problem, when he doesnt score as many as the opposition what you gonna do.

Nah, seriously judging on todays game and from what i've seen there defense is in a state, there confidence has dropped... the hunger is not there and other teams are really close behind, but not Leeds.

...

other guys on this forum claim that arenal are the total package and if henry doenst play, they can still score a hatful of goals. do they no longer believe this?

Man Utd have lost 3 games in the league, not 4 like Arsenal ;)

Up until today,i've believed they were the best. The games they've lost before,i think they could easily have won on another day (these things happen,it's football) .Today they didn't seem to care enough,or Man U cared more anyhow.
I don't expect them to make a habit of it tho (as Liverpool seem to have done )

Arsenal have the best first eleven in the country, but we're not head and shoulders above the rest.

We have gone through a pretty bad patch, which we seem to do most seasons at this time of year and we're still two points clear at the top, having played at both Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge, that's not too bad in my book.

We normally start playing our best football after xmas, so I'm still expecting great things from us this season.

Man Utd are on a high and I've never said they're out of the title race, but they're still three points behind, it could go to the wire this year, but I still fancy us to win the title by at least three points, but as the Prediction League proves, my forecasts aren't very accurate.

No arsenal are not head and shoulders above the rest, as shown today. I think it will be a close season with man utd edging it (hopefully) lets be realistic united aint going to win the league 5 points in front of arsenal

Anyone who follows football will admit, this is the best season in years! Very close, could be any of the top 5 in theory, though personally i still think it'll be between Man Utd and Arsenal.

Arsenal are v. high quality, any team who have players like Bergkamp on the bench in such a big game are going to be like that. However, there are some other high quality teams in the premiership, and when at full strength United are up there with them, and we've done v. v. well to keep as close as we have with so many injuries, the rest of the season is shaping up to be excellent.

i also feel that people in here get hung up on "names".

let me tell u this much, the best teams work great as a team, regardless of how many or how little big name players there are.

example. Spain, the best league in the world. the no.1 team right now have 0 big name players in them. in fact man utd are playing better now than they have in the last 2 yrs, and this is without some of the "big names".

arsenal have the best 11 in the country - debatable, cuz i feel man utd have the best 11 (when all are fit, ie. with the inclusion of keane, beckham etc). however, what i would say is that arsenal have the best 15. man utd have a great 11, but after that, they have no "big names".

and that is what separates a championship winning team from the also rans - a champ winning team will play badly, but will somehow scrape a win. the also rans will play great, but will end up losing games that they really could easily have won.

this is why im thinking arsenal really dont have any realistic chance of winning the title this year. but hey, thats just me...

most of the good work/point/goal scoring was done in the first 2 months of the season. and it is on this that they are still leading the league. i cant see them leading the league past january - man utd shouldve passed them by then.

in the last 2 months, i would love to see how many points/goals arsenal have actually scored in the premiership. i doubt they are in the top 3. man utd or everton are probably top. can someone dig up these stats?

i still think we are the best team in the country when we peak....like kev said, this is ALWAYS a bad run for us this time of year.

i have no doubt in my mind that we can retain the title...

last year we didnt rely on henry  freddie, wiltord, pires, dennis all scored key goals, and will do again this season.

wenger just needs to let the ice man start every game....we are a different team when he plays.

I think Arsenal are awesome, they're on a patchy run at the moment but when they're in fully working order - which they are quite a lot - nobody in the Prem' can beat them.

up until recently arsenal could've beat anyone in the world (including brazilian national team ;)), they're just going through a bad patch much like liverpool and leeds. Even after yesterdays pretty average performance they still should have got something if it weren't for the only at old trafford style decisions, missed a coule of early sitters too.

woah woah woah after one defeat suddenly we are not good enough.

Yesterday Man utd the game meant more to the man utd players than arsenal no doubt. Arsenal have lost the passion they had last season that was evident yesterday.

does anyone doubt me when i say real madrid are the best in the world? if so why are they 7th in their league, why are they 8 points behind the leaders, why havent they scored the most goals when they have ronaldo, figo, zidane, raul. even if they win their games in hand they will still not be top

We have peaked? My good friend you havent even seen our peak yet, i think we are yet to play a match with our full squad, pires is getting near to his peak but ljundberg hasnt yet.

The league has never been decided in December and never will, obviously man utd fans are still on a high after yesterday but look at the patch arsenal have gone through and we are still top.

League goals this yr:

Henry 9
Wiltord 8
Kanu 5
ljundberg 2
pires 2
bergkamp 1

Are you sure we only rely on henry? look at the end of last yr ljundberg scored enough important goals for us, so did wiltord

the reason for henry's poor game was mainly coz of wiltord, henry was very isolated and usually had 2 players around him so not much he can do, if bergkamp had played henry is a different player and knows he can make more attacking runs, wiltord had a real bad game, i dont think he a striker more of an attacking midfielder.

we played bad against west ham, chelsea but we still got results, indeed we are lucky that we had a flying start but hey who can say for sure man utd arent gonna go on a bad run?

To say man utd will win it by at least 5 points a pretty bold statement, we will see at the end i guess. I have said all along man utd is more of a threat than liverpool. I still say arsenal are the best they are on a bad run and are still top that says a lot about them

Hmmmm Man Yoo fans see their team beat Liverpool and then Arsenal and EXPECT to win the league

IMHO Arsenal are still the best team in the league and will win it easily, I think Man yoo's early poor form will cost them this year and Liverpool's annual November/December slump will again make them also rans :( As for Chelsea, they will probably finish fourth

Just my two penneth :p
