Are Next Gen Consoles Making You Think About Ditching Your PC?

Couldn't live without the PC, no console will be able replace the freedom of creativity that applications offer, and as these applications become more and more demands, then it makes sense to have a 'reasonable' powered PC.
Agreed, I NEED a PC for my income for work, however, I've not really played a game on the PC since November and the last game I actually sat and played (and enjoyed) was Fahrenheit in September '05.

PC gaming is very poor at the moment.

There's still PC games that I would like to play. I can't wait for HL2:Ep2 (with Team Fortress 2 at long last!) and Company of Heroes looks excellent. However, for the number of truly worthwhile PC games about, I don't think that I can keep justifying the annual hardware upgrades required to get the most out of the games. It's not just the money, it's researching the best buys, ordering everything, putting it together and the various driver/hardware issues that usually pop up. It's a hassle that I can do without.

It also much more comfortable to play games in front of a large HDTV, with a decent surround sound set-up whilst sitting on the sofa. I sit in front of a PC all day at work and I'm getting more and more turned off by the thought of doing it at home as well.

I'm really tempted to buy an iMac for my non-gaming PC needs and then sticking to a couple of the consoles for gaming.

Well I ordered a new GFX card and as murphy's law dictates my pc died the day before it turned up. I had the choice of going all out upgrading everything (was currently on socket a) and making a full on gaming pc, shoehorning the new gfx card into my Celeron based media pc for a lowish spec media/gaming pc or sending the card back, taking the 10% hit and leaving pc gaming totally.

If it hadn't been for the 360 I'd now have a full on hardcore gaming pc (and no money in the bank), if there was nothin on the pc to interest me I would have just my laptop. As it is I went for the middle option. Its rare something comes out on PC only that I want to play but it does happen and currently I play Fallout 2 (don't use my old xbox anymore), LFS and Track Mania: Sunrise.

Whilst there isn't much PC game wise that interests me (as a rule I'm not that fussed with first person shooters, MMMORPG's, strategy games or flight sis) but I like the option of being able to dabble in pc gaming should I decide to.

only had my 360 for just over a month and already i am considering downgrading my pc. i havent played a pc game for well over a year and i had sold my gfx card about a year ago. been blasing away at the ps2, gamecube, xbox and psp

now that i have the 360 i am pretty certain that my pc is a total waste

hmm wonder if my sister wants an upgrade ? lol

Have to say still a pc fan boy,

Love playing wow too much, if they released it on the 360 with mouse an keyboard i would switch, Loving my car games and saints row on the 360 though.

Plus have the 360 allows me to play games still when the missus is using my pc for map making.

I just made the move from gaming PC to Xbox 360, best decision I've made in a long while. Also the worst decision as this is my Honours year at uni so the distraction will cause problems...
I've only owned the 360 a couple of days but it just seems so much easier to game on than the PC.

I'll still have the laptop for the office/media needs but I can't see me finding a reason to go back to full on gaming PC for a long time.

Since working full time plus having a gf I really havent had much time to sit down and play on my PC I think I will be getting a Nintendo Wii this xmas so atleast the gf cn join in.

Im trying out the full experience of X(360) live this weekend, and if I show as little interest in that as I have in the console itself I will sell it

Still interested in wii and ps3 to see whether they can do anything more to my taste - but will never ditch my pc even though it is very expensive to keep in "peak" condition

I would ditch my pc probably if next gen consoles provided a keyboard\mouse interface for fps game and had the modability of pc games.

Fps games are probably my main gaming interest, and to be blunt i hate playing them on consoles as it always feels like you're controlling a tank rather than a person.

With a console everyone has the same graphics, same fps etc, everyone sees the game how it should be, not the case with pc games as some games run like crap if your pc isn't top of the line.

I've never had a console or thought about getting one, until now. I lke indepth gaming so the PC market was what i went for but now i find i dont tend to have the time to dedicate to a game anymore and am looking for something i can just have a laugh on for 30 mins at a time. Plus for tyhe first time i have my own house and the appeal of louging on the sofa playing on my big tv is a big one compared to leaning over my desk.

There also the lack of having to update kit, patches etc which is a plus but also you dont have the mods and patches that makes things better.

Patches are a double-edged sword. On the one hand, it allows developers to tweak the balance of their games and add extra features after launch. On the other hand, it gives them an incentive to released half-finished games and then patch up the problems later. Just take a look at a game like Battlefield 2 on the PC. Would EA really have released such a buggy and incomplete game on a console?

LOL. After harping on about how much I loved the 360 when I first got it in May, it's hardly been switched on for about 3 months now. The games are too flippin' expensive and I miss the old keyboard/mouse combo. Will probably flog it in March and get a PS3 which I'll no doubt get bored of by August.

Yup, was going to upgrade my PC (had a budget of £1100) and then played a bit of DOA4 and Need for speed round a mates house) - never looked back since. I like the fact that you can just whack in a game and play, you spend longer learning how to play it instead of spending ages on installing patches, editing the settings. The only game i miss playing on the PC is quake 3 arena (online), but by the time i bought my PC that had basically died :) Overall, i got sick of faffing about with setting up PC games - i really cba wiht it nowadays as i just want to game.

Another +ve, online everyone has a pretty much equal starting point. There are no issues over fps, a better config etc. The only real advantage i think someone has is if they're playing on a HD tv or using a VGA cable - as you can see so much more than a on a normal tv.

360 ***!

no chance, my PC is the highest spec its ever been, and also the most reliable i have ever had.

i can leave it downloading away for a week maybe longer and its fine (previously i had restart/bsod issues..)

console games just dont grab me that way, and with my next potential purchase the PS3 looking like a more expensive way to play games, the PC will be sticking around for a while longer yet!

Bloody hell theyve even started censoring f t w here now.

Recently my PC has been getting much more use for gaming than any of my consoles. I already have a decent spec PC so I don't feel the need to shell out loads of money on a 360 since the only games for it that interest me are also on PC. Can't see me ditching my PC in favour of consoles any time soon.
