Are OcUK one of the best quality forums?

Which is the number one thing that annoys me about this forum, the same people push the same views all the time and after a while it just grates.

If i wanted to go into a forum thats slags off gays and muslims then i'd join the BNP, not a computer hardware forum.

This place is still great for getting educated answers for tech issues but the rest has gone down hill since i joined...noticably.

I particularly don't like the way that SC politics and arguements have spilled out into GD, i'd prefer more random crap jokes than another thread on immigration and welfare.

We dont make you click GD, you do that all by yourself! LOL

How many threads in GD discuss computer hardware?

As i said i'd rather have more random jokes in GD than another muslim bashing thread, as i believe would most of the other forum users.

At no point did i say that GD was about posting hardware discussions, my point was that the arguements from SC have spilled over and now account for a large proportion of the bickering in GD. At least before it was pinholed into a sub-forum that most people didn't visit and ensured that those who wanted to discuss these issues used properly quoted well sourced information. Now its just degenerated into rants and accusations.

See above, GD throws up some gems now and again which is why i bother, but my point still stands, if you want an output to **** off gays, muslims or any other section of society then there are plenty of sites that will accomodate your views better than a computer forum.

Do you mean pigeonholed? :p

You are wrong anyway - GD has always had discussions of topical issues in the five years I've been here.

BNP voter and grammer nazi :p going all out this week arn't we ;)

I wouldn't equate some of the egotistic bickering thats been going on here recently as topical discussion either, there's a big difference.

Best forum and my favourite shop!

This forum is a great place to hang around because we all have something in common. :D

Its one of the best forums for technical info. As for the rest, I find it a bit pompus and cliquey at times. There are some nice people here if you look hard enough though. ;)

From an outsider point of view ( ie: this is a forum I browse but I'm not always on it and other forums are used more ) I would say the OcUK forums have some problems.

Generally some of your rules can be a little ott or at least taken out of context by a moderator. I've witnessed a lot of posts being deleted or covered up. I've been suspended for defending a gay guy once ( which led me to search for suspension times on google re the ocuk site as I wasn't informed of how long - this led me to find an insane amount of people who hate this forum and the mods ). The people on this forum can be really anti-gay or anti-foreign to an insulting point ( yet they get away with it - might be something to do with Spie being one of them, who knows ). etc.

None the less, despite the negatives which I've either ignored or avoided during my time here the positives are that this is one of the biggest and most active forums on the net. A good 70% of the community are great people and some excellent discussions are held here ( unless it gets onto topics above then I do the whole ignore and avoid thing until another interesting topic comes up ), people here have a laugh and you have a wide range of boards to choose from. It's also excellent for technical information ( obviously it would be ) and linked to one of my fave places to buy computer parts from. Infact I'd say all of my pc purchases over the last 6+ years have been at OcUK. :)

Don't flame for the negatives. The OP wanted peoples input and this is mine.
If you don't agree then I'm fine with that :D
