Are parking sensors all the same?

Lorry drivers get along fine without sensors.. so do Busses :p

You ever seen a lorry reverse park into a space at the side of the road between two cars when the space is only 2 feet longer than the vehicle he's parking?

Didn't think so. Thats all I use them for - general reversing is fine without them.

Not a lorry, but Busses yes.. my local Arriva yard they line all the busses up and I often see them reverse them into the row..

They do that round here. Every so often the bus touches the one behind but they don't seem to care.

The difference is, I do care.

People in Volvo estates manage easily without them too.

See above. Estates are far easier.

If you need parking sensors on a 1-Series then you shouldn't be driving. In fact, you should be taken out and shot.

:)

Obviously, because modern technology is SO bad! Anything to make your life easier must be banned, including ABS, electric windows, air conditioning and remote locking. ;)

If you want to infer that from my miscellaneous ramblings, then by all means do so. But I would like to say one thing:

Don't be so ******* stupid.

:)

Of course there are many things that make life easier when driving, and these are all good. But to rely on them....ngh. Not so sure. And frankly, I have enough on my plate when driving the Olds to be concerned with some gadget merrily bleeping at me trying to tell me what I already know - that I'm getting awfully close to obliterating the Corsa behind me. I'm well aware that there is a Corsa behind me, thank-you very much - I can see it out of the rear window, after all. And I don't need a really, really, really, really, really, really....

....really, really, really annoying beep to reinforce that fact :)

Are you aware of the ability to turn off said beep?

Which would then make the parking sensors about as much use as a chocolate fireguard, no? Because you'd have your eye on the little dash-mounted unit that controls the parking sensors, looking for a flashing light or similar, rather than looking at the car you've just hit.
