I nearly bought a 360 core today with oblivion, but after reading lots of posts about 3 red lights and overheating (not on this forum) im not so sure now, some people have trouble within weeks and some upto 10 months old, has anyone one on this forum had a dud they needed to replace or had no problems with whatsoever ? I like the idea of the ps3 but games will be top whack for a long time, you can get 360 games for as low as £10 to £15 second hand from auction sites which is nice, and the hd dvd drive looks good too. Are they worth getting as they are a year old, could get the Wii but i dont think it supports high def gaming.

I've had 1 friend who had 3 red lights, that out of about 9 people i know who have 360's. He repaired it himself also.

Well there is people on this forum who's had there 360 replaced 5 times, so there is a problem with them, how big a problem no one knows.

My 360 has never crashed or been blighted with any red lights of doom.

However how boring would it be if I posted that every week? There's no doubt there's a seemingly higher than average number of faults but even so MS has a pretty good returns policy.

over 6 million 360s sold and theres gotta be a few 100 people on these forums with em 99% of them people have no problems ;)

on my friends list of around 50 people i only know of 2 who have had problems.

also, MS has admitted to problems with the intial batch and it's apparently been sorted on machines made in 2006.

Mine died after 2 months (launch model) but I did take it away for christmas and it died on the return trip.

My 2nd one (they send me a new one) has been running well ever since. Remember you only ever hear about bad ones and the vast majority don't have any trouble at all :)

Another example of misinformation. This is no different to people who think the PS3 is the next gen on from 360. Must be a popular misconception that 360 have high failure rates. I know of at least 20 units none of which have failed. M$ are close to the global expected failure rate of high end consumer products (easily in line with, for example, Nvidias 6800 series launch).

And with comprehensive warranty cover why worry?

you only hear about the problems, you don't hear about the millions that DONT have problems
Yup. I treat my launch day console like crap and it's still working fine. The warranty (mine expires next month  ) ensures peace of mind...well not for me come next month. Consoles failing is just a normal thing, iirc there were a ton of PS2's that failed for their first year after launch, and a brick load of PSP's with borked LCD screens.

I'm on my 4th (or is it 5th? :o ) 360 since december, but all have been replaced without any fuss.

I'd still buy one even after all the hassle I've had with them, just keep hold of the receipt.

Thx for the heads up guys, will get one tomorrow as planned, should have picked it up today grrr.

I am on my 5th 360 my very first was on release day

This 5th 360 has been fine had it since May

360 is worth the hassle so will be the PS3 and the Wii I love gaming so these little issues does not bother me.

If it breaks always take it back to the place you buy, as they will give you a new machine don't send the machine back to Microsoft.

Doing that is pointless you buy something why have it fixed when it's not even a year old.
