Well my 3rd 360 has just died tonight....Just as TDU was about to enter In Game the game froze and corrupted GFX appeared.....Rebooted, tried 3 more times and it hung up every time.....

Now i have the 3 lights of death and now the 360 can't even make it into the dashboard....Day before GoW too......Gutted....Was actually considering another 360 for the bedroom, so this might force me into buying another until this ones replaced......

Piece of ****! :(

/speaking out of hurt ;)

I read something like this...

On average 17 people hear about something negavite..

however only 2-3 will hear about the positive

While I don't know if your numbers are correct, I agree with what you're saying completely.

Irrespective however, the 360's failure rate has been a little high but I have noticed one thing... those who's original box has failed, have now been through a few... make of that what you will.

My 360 has worked like its supposed to, infact its taken over the job of my main dvd player. So thumbs up from me.

Mines been fine since the 28th when it got delivered :) Some resourceful peep on these fine forums let everyone know that a certain catalogue store had them for home delivery - clickety click! Purchased!

Never had any problems beyond freezing/getting stuck when bringing up the dashboard in game - a few games (PGR3...) were noted for this problem. Come to think of it I actually dropped it once as well....

22% failure rate on this forum - and I believe some of those who said theirs was okay, have subsequently had problems so it will be more than 22%.

please tell me you are joking you can not take that serious.
As anyone can click what they want on it do you really believe that they have a 25% failure rate?

Why would they have lied?

People may not have lied, but it's very possible that a lot of 360 owners did not vote. There are only a handful of regular posters in console gaming, and it's likely that others on the forums who own 360s only ever come this way to ask questions when something goes wrong.

I don't believe there are still big issues with 360s breaking, although my boyfriend has just sent ours off to Microsoft because of a graphics problem. It's from the second release in Feb/March.

You're right, the true figure could be higher  :p

I didn't vote in case you are wondering :)

But the thing is it is more acurrate than people just saying 'oh only about 1% of folk on here have had issues.' Which has absolutely no substance to it. And as DD said some folk have went through several, that isn't shown on the poll, and also people who said it was fine may now have borked.

I do still believe there are higher than normal failure rates on the 360, as i dont think any product that folk have had 5 of is not suffering from higher than normal failure rates ;) If i read about folk having 3-4 of a specific DVD player i would think thats a high failure rate. And a lot of people tend to be on their third on here too (i know not scientific, maybe another Poll? how many 360's have you had so far?)

Saying that i've had mines since launch and its never missed a beat, and tbh since there are no shortages now getting it swaped would be a piece of cake. So i wouldn't let it put you off, too much enjoyment to be had :D

At the end of the day we can all guess or predict the figures but the only people who really know are MS, and they're unlikely to tell us the failure rate.

For those of you wondering if you should get a 360 because of the talk of failure- don't let it put you off. The majority of people don't have problems, but yes some do. Luckily those that do have the fortune of either being able to replace it in the shops or send it to MS, who have a robust system of replacements.
