"are we human or are we dancing"

It appears that Brandon Flowers, vocalist and keyboard player of the band has stated in an interview that the line “are we human, or are we dancer?” is a reference to a remark once made by the late Hunter S. Thompson, an ascerbic journalist famed for “telling it like it is”, often in offensive terms. He had commented that America is nowadays raising a “generation of dancers”. Thompson committed suicide in 2005.

So basically it refers to whether we are free to make choices in life (human) or whether we are all dancers (we just follow the beat and are afraid of stepping out of line)

Well this sums it up about as well as anyone can.

P.S. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is one of my favourite movies ever!

I'm sick of the Killers. Loved them at first, but slowly grown out of them as everyone else seems to be falling in love with them, same thing is happening with Kings of Leon.

Kings of Leon can write one good song an album and a whole lot of average.

That Killers song is poor.
