How the hell are people showering in 4 minutes!?
How the hell are people showering in 4 minutes!?
You don't understand because you're making the assumption that the only reason to have a shower is that you are so dirty that you need one.
I agree that it's not needed. Washing is barely needed at all. Not washing won't kill a person.
I think that's the core of our differing views - you regard washing as something to be done only when you're very dirty, so dirty that washing is necessary. I regard washing as pleasant and also as being useful at a lower level of dirtiness.
We may as well say that showering less often contributed to a reduced chance of winning the lottery or a greater chance of being kidnapped by aliens. If we're making stuff up for the "let's say" thing, we may as well make it amusing.
The idea that you shouldn't wash because it removes dirt protecting you from disease is downright medieval (and, as far as I know, uncommon even then). As for apparent age, I'm 50 and show very little sign of aging despite having very pale skin (which tends to show aging faster than darker skin). People generally think I'm in my mid 30s. Washing twice a day with a mild detergent for sensitive skin shouldn't be a problem for someone who doesn't have a skin problem.
£2.50 for 500ml. I might be increasing my spending over minimum by £1 a week! Oh noes!
No, it isn't.
There you have a point. But it's a point I don't care about.
I think your fear is the one you (and only you, since it's all in your head) stated in the post I was replying to:
I can't even go to the shower to have a cheeky "think". Quite often the wife will burst in to use the toilet whilst I'm deep in "thought" and I quickly have to turn around and pretend I'm washing my nether regions. I should invest in frosted glass.I also use the shower for 'thinking time'.... A great big 'think' is sometimes what is needed to start the day.
Shumack also warned that a hot daily shower could do more damage than good, saying: “Overwashing causes 'defatting' of the skin – getting rid of the natural body oils we produce to protect the skin cells. This can cause actual damage making them more permeable to bacteria or viruses, precipitating itchy skin, dryness, flakiness and worsening conditions like eczema.”
Where have I stated that you should only wash when your very dirty?
[..] What is happening from then until the morning that is making you so dirty again that you need another shower?
And if that is the case after you have had a shower when you've finished work by the morning are you very dirty again? Answer that one, unless someone has coughed on you lol!
I'm guessing you haven't bothered to read any of the links of provided or tried to comprehend that their might actually be some science behind not needing to shower too much, you want to shower twice a day that's cool, but I just don't believe you need to do so, like I said I think it is a waste of time, money, and energy, you don't care that's fine also.
I can't even go to the shower to have a cheeky "think". Quite often the wife will burst in to use the toilet whilst I'm deep in "thought" and I quickly have to turn around and pretend I'm washing my nether regions. I should invest in frosted glass.
In the post I replied to, of course:
You said showering is something to be done only when it's needed because the person is so dirty. You. Not me. So why are you asking me a question based on your criteria when you know I disagree with it? That makes no sense.
You also said it weakens the immune system and prematurely ages people. Did any of your links provide scientific evidence for those claims? The one I read was a beauty article, not a science article.
You could probably have left it at "if I exercise" tbh.
About as much sense as you taking a shower when your perfectly clean then? Either your taking a shower in the morning because your dirty or for funsies? I asked you a simple question.
No, you didn't. You made a slew of wild accusations about people being crazy, about showering harming a person's immune system and prematurely aging them and then you asked how I got so dirty overnight that I needed a shower. Now you're adding a second option - funsies or very dirty. That's not a simple question, since it contains the assumption that the only possible states are perfectly clean and very dirty, so dirty that you need to take the great risk of having a shower (which ages you and weakens your immune system).
If you hadn't been so wild in your accusations and false dichotomies, I might have taken you seriously enough to thoroughly read all the articles you linked to. But a quick read was enough to assure me that you're wrong even according to the selected sources you chose. Since I don't have any skin problems, well, I don't have any skin problems. Also, your sources differ - some say don't shower more than 10 minutes a day if you have a serious skin problem, some say never shower or wash your hair and only wash if it's absolutely necessary and some are in between.
I never made a slew of accusations I'm afraid,
People on here must sweat like the niagara falls if they feel they need two showers a day!, I think that's insane, and it honestly can't be healthy for your skin, when we was kids growing up we would have sunday bath once a week with shared bath water!, and I know in those days it really wasn't that uncommon, people are way to obsessive about cleanliness today, yes it's important but to a degree of course, this fear we have in modern society that if you skip a shower people in the street will beat you with battens calling you a smelly ******* is crazy.
my original post obviously hit a nerve with you
and you decided to go on one like a immature child misquoting me, and taking things out of context,
I'm not going to keep repeating myself it's getting boring now,
I gave my opinion,
I provided some links that backed up my claim that showering too much isn't good for, (like most things in life a balance is required)
you have provided nothing, you choose not to believe it because when you look in the mirror you see a 30 year old stud, tbh life goes on, time to put the kettle on, enjoy your morning shower.
