what you on about washing too much is as bad as not washing. this forums lol. your not supposed to bath shower every day.

Nah he has a point when I was depressed so basicaly saw zero need in self grooming.

Even now you can reasonably tell my mood by how well groomed I am

People on here must sweat like the niagara falls if they feel they need two showers a day!

1) I work 11-13 hour days in temperatures between 23C and 28C, with people coughing on me frequently. I shower before work and after work.
2) I like being clean.

I think that's insane, and it honestly can't be healthy for your skin, when we was kids growing up we would have sunday bath once a week with shared bath water!

Which was the best you could do with the resources you had. Go back a bit further and people died of cholera due to poor sanitation. What happened in the past wasn't always optimal, so a simple appeal to the past is meaningless.

I've been showering twice a day for at least 30 years and my skin is fine. It's not like we have to shower with badly made lye soap and harsh perfumes.

, and I know in those days it really wasn't that uncommon, people are way to obsessive about cleanliness today, yes it's important but to a degree of course, this fear we have in modern society that if you skip a shower people in the street will beat you with battens calling you a smelly ******* is crazy. [..]

You have a weird delusional fear and you're calling other people insane and crazy. Physician, heal thyself!

I think it's common sense that in some more extreme circumstance you might need to shower more often depending on your job and own body odor, activeties etc, although I still don't understand why you would need two showers a day, you get in from work, you wash all those nasty coughs off you!, What is happening from then until the morning that is making you so dirty again that you need another shower?

I have not stated that you should go back to that time, neither have I stated that people shouldn't shower or keep good hygiene habits, the point I was making was that even having only one bath a week we wasn't all dying off cholera, there is a balance no?, I just think that in modern society people over shower and it's not needed it's that simple, most resources online tend to agree.

Yes I'm sure your fine, it's not going to kill you is it, but say you only had one shower a day or less even and that contributed to you looking younger now? or having a stronger immune system over those years, or saving all the money from the unneeded extra use of toiletries, or even your own time being wasted, and water wastage, currently daily showers account for the biggest water usages in UK homes, the average shower typically uses 65 litres of water, twice a day at 130 litres!, times that by seven, 910 litres a week! I hope your not on a meter.

I'm not sure what you think my fear is, I'm certainly not scared of being overly clean, I just think it's unnecessary, not good for you, waste of resources, time and money.

If at work I'll have one before work and then one when I come in. I like to combine a poo with a post shower if possible and as I normally defecate after work...

On Wednesday's I play evening football so I'll have a third quick shower. Always have one when I come in from a booze up as well (no matter how drunk I am). Always nicer to wake up not covered in sweaty dance floor'ness.

3 showers in a day....blimey. You must do some pretty intense manual labour to feel you need to have a shower after work as well as one in the morning...And especially feel the need to have one after work on a Wednesday rather than postpone it to after football so you can just stick to two

I just like a shower I guess haha!

That makes no sense in relation to what I said?

I am not saying if you don't wash every day you're depressed, just that it can be a sign of depression when you stop keeping on top of personal hygiene.

shower twice a day here, sometimes once depends what I was up to during the day. Twice a week I'd feel itchy, filthy and nasty.

that woman also looks darn greasy, she should shower more.

Have to shower once a day at the very least, with either a bath or a second shower to follow if I've been to the gym that day. Some days I'll have a bath before bed anyway - it's a relaxing way to end the day, especially accompanied with a glass of wine or a beer ...

Thanks for the info, I had it on my mind for a while wondering how often people like to combine showers with dropping a deuce, now I know.:o

on a similar subject.

Does anyone have an issue with nose hair trimmers?

I bought a new one recently and despite putting it up my nose weekly i still seem to be able to yank out 1cm long hairs from time to time.

why is this trimmer not able to properly get these hairs?

Skimming over this thread I saw someone mention their shower takes them FOUR minutes.

What the heck? It takes me 5 minutes just to soap up my nether regions and 2 minutes just to clean behind my ears. Takes me 40 minutes to have a total shower.

Showering for 4 minutes is akin to splashing some water on your hands and thinking you've washed them.
40 minutes? 40 MINUTES?! That's insane!

You don't understand because you're making the assumption that the only reason to have a shower is that you are so dirty that you need one.

I agree that it's not needed. Washing is barely needed at all. Not washing won't kill a person.

I think that's the core of our differing views - you regard washing as something to be done only when you're very dirty, so dirty that washing is necessary. I regard washing as pleasant and also as being useful at a lower level of dirtiness.

Yes I'm sure your fine, it's not going to kill you is it, but say you only had one shower a day or less even and that contributed to you looking younger now? or having a stronger immune system over those years,

We may as well say that showering less often contributed to a reduced chance of winning the lottery or a greater chance of being kidnapped by aliens. If we're making stuff up for the "let's say" thing, we may as well make it amusing.

The idea that you shouldn't wash because it removes dirt protecting you from disease is downright medieval (and, as far as I know, uncommon even then). As for apparent age, I'm 50 and show very little sign of aging despite having very pale skin (which tends to show aging faster than darker skin). People generally think I'm in my mid 30s. Washing twice a day with a mild detergent for sensitive skin shouldn't be a problem for someone who doesn't have a skin problem.

or saving all the money from the unneeded extra use of toiletries,

£2.50 for 500ml. I might be increasing my spending over minimum by £1 a week! Oh noes!

or even your own time being wasted,

No, it isn't.

and water wastage, currently daily showers account for the biggest water usages in UK homes, the average shower typically uses 65 litres of water, twice a day at 130 litres!, times that by seven, 910 litres a week! I hope your not on a meter.

There you have a point. But it's a point I don't care about.

I think your fear is the one you (and only you, since it's all in your head) stated in the post I was replying to:
