Are you a supermarket snob?

We shop in Asda and generally just buy Asda brand where avaliable

But we do go into M&S for a few specific bits and pieces which are surprisingly good value and I can't deny their food is (generally) just nicer - we buy bread and stuff from M&S and it's surprisingly cheap

But the core weekly shop is always Asda. My town has a Tesco and Sainsbury's but we never set foot in either. Couldn't tell you why tbh

I'm a snob, I don't like the colour scheme or the uniforms in ASDA. Tesco's is too bright and their finest range is not good enough. Sainsbury's near me never has staff on the checkout and is too small and why is everything orange?

Luckily we have Booths which costs a lot more but has the best staff who take their time at the checkout and a nice colour scheme and their products are similar to M&S and Waitrose. It's an enjoyable experience and I place value in that as it's my time being spent. It's expensive though and I do go to Tesco's 50% of the time, aint made of money!
Do you not use the self-scan? I've never used a checkout person in about 5 years.
It's soo much faster packing as you scan around the shop, then just pay n leave.

I probably use Tesco the most out of ease as it's at the end of my road but, I can stop at Marks and Asda en route home from work, and I'm not afraid of a lil journey if I know something is more likely to be available at Sainos, Lidl or Aldi.

If i rated them though it's mostly on the people which is often location based, the Aldi by my Mums in Buxton is vastly nicer than the one in Fenton in Stoke, but also the veg quality is dire at Asda and Morrisons and not much better in Tesco

M&S, Waitrose
Sainsbury
Aldi,LidL (if they have self service I live alone and can't be dealing with the chaos of queueing behind full family shops)
Tesco
ASDA
Morrisons

Sainsburys for me as it's quite close and I like their click and collect and nectar deals. 2nd choice Morrisons as I like a lot if their iwn brand stuff.

Yes/no.

I try not to go into my local Asda. The dregs of society are there - and that's just the staff! The clientele are even worse.

I usually go to Tesco, occasionally Lidl, where, surprisingly, the calibre of people in both are vastly superior to the gutter dwellers that frequent Asda.. Morrisons is a mile closer, where they have delusions of grandeur with their Waitrose-esque prices, so I tend to avoid that at all costs.

Honestly, I'm probably just being grumpy but i resent the fact the supermarkets are making me scan and then pack in a small area. I want them to do some work for the prices they charge.

Waitrose is old hat now its all about M&S as being grocer to the middle classes. dahling.

By the time I get there in the evening there isn't any choice its self checlout only. At least theres no queue for the tills though as its mostly empty of customers though not of shelf stackers who are an obstacle course to negociate

I use Lidl for most of my shopping. I visit the 2nd closest store to me as 1. Road around the nearest has roadworks at least every 6 weeks. and 2. The other one has self scans which if I buying 2 bags of shopping I can fit on there. As there's always one customer spending £130 in the other one. If they are spending £130 there, it will probably be touching distance to £200 if bought from my previous employer.

I boycotted Asda as they didn't delivery my partners shopping a few years. Instead of ringing her before her time slot she had to ring them some time after where they didn't offer to redeliver it and said she needed to collect it (she didn't drive at the time) so I had to go get it and take it to her after I finished work. I was seething, partly as I work for Tesco doing the same job and it would have been treated very differently.

I do shop at the aforementioned mainly due to convenience and staff discount. I also go to Sainsbury's and Home Bargains 2 or 3 times a month as they're on my commute home. Sainsbury's sell things I like which Tesco don't, and Home Bargains are much much cheaper for household consumables etc.

Customers in Sainsbury's seems to get very confused when they see someone walking around in a competing uniform. Once I had someone ask me where something is, I only pointed at the logo on my top and smiled. I think they were on auto pilot!

Reminds me of a meme thing I seen yesterday:

There are three certainties in life:

1. Death
2. Taxes
3. My wife going radio silent and ignoring every one of my text messages immediately after she sent me to the store for a specific thing

My mrs now knows to keep her phone on her because i will call. Staff just point in the general direction but I need someone to walk me across the store, to the specific aisle and point to the item on the damn shelf :D

Tend to shop at Sainsbury's for larger shopping. Like the balance between quality/price, plus it's on my way home from work.

Then do small shops at M&S for some food products we like.

I doubt there’s anything left on the shelves if someone is spending £130 at Lidl!

@2Thumbs i got that when i picked up my prescriptions from Boots and visiting shops around work after my shift ended. I said why not ask someone who is wearing the shop uniform instead.

Then got this as well. Whilst working, customers come up to me asking if (shop in the area) sells …..?

Unless I have bought the item in question or seen it myself, I told them. For the items I didn’t know if the shop sold them, a couple of customers weren’t happy. Then if customer asked did we sell (product) I said no but (shop in area) sold it.

I felt so tempted to say “why don’t you visit the shop yourself?”

I read another article the other day reporting that Waitrose were starting to seriously lag behind M&S on revenue. M&S is better, plain and simple, their best ever tikka masala is as enjoyable as a takeaway curry
