Are you a top revenue earner?

Doesn’t matter what you’re thinking on your death bed really as you’ll be gone within minutes or hours and you can’t take your thoughts with you.

Pfft.

If I was rich, I'd have a super-swank deathbed, with peacock feather stuffed pillows and mink sheets.

While the poor man would have to lie in the gutter, looking at the cars he can't afford splashing him with filthy water as they pass.

That's crazy! Imagine being content with what you have and not chasing figures.
Why? I'm happy with what I earn and I get plenty of time to enjoy it too. Best of both worlds. I wouldn't like to spend my life being that obsessed with earning more and more, what's the point? Always chasing a dream that you'll newver be satisfied with! No thanks :)

I think this should be everyone's mindset, it really is a good place to be, but sadly it tends not to be an aspiration for to many of us.

Modern society seems to drive people to accumulate things that you can then tick off you list of "Things I need for me to be or worse, to be SEEN to be wealthy". It has for the last few years added in the "show everyone how well you are doing on the internet" craze. Guilty as charged in the past of course, but not these days so much.

Yes I have nice things, but they are things I enjoy, not things I buy and put on the shelf of "what made me buy that!!". Ive not bought an expensive watch for years, seems pointless as I don't wear watches and haven't for a few years so bit pointless outside 'impressing' people who are unimportant to my life enjoyment. Sure I have nice cars and clothes but those both get used lots and give me proper pleasure, but outside of that I not longer seek the latest greatest gadgets or trinkets.

Aspire to being happy, healthy and cultivate a close and strong group of trustworthy life long friends you can spend time with and laugh lots. I've been at the top of the (posted) money list for many years, but has it made me happy or stopped me getting ill, divorced or stressed? Nope, not at all and I would argue that the stress is a trigger for the illness and the divorce....

Given up chasing the dollar, not worth it anymore. I am now about spending less, saving and downsizing and frankly finding time to work less (not fixed that last one just yet but I will). I am 56 however and in my 30's and most of my 40's I would NEVER think like that. My closest mates fit into 2 groups. The ones I grew up with (all employees) and ones I got to know in the last 20 years through shared interest (virtually all company owners or all sizes). The former group are all about retirement......as are most of the latter group.

Be happy with life and don't think "if only I earned more I would be happy" because most of the time, you won't.

Yeah it was I thought obviously sarcastic. Maybe not obvious enough.

I fall in the 46-59
Partner is on 31.

She misses out on not doing as many holidays as me, but she's chosen a charity job.
We live in a cheap area and both WFH so helps a lot.
We also have no kids which helps a lot.
So really it's not too bad, I certainly can't complain.

Not surprised that this seems to be on the low end of the people replying. But that's definitely the gist you get from the forum.

Inspired by the ‘NI cut’ thread. Are you a top revenue earner? I’ll ask for an anonymous poll but if you feel comfortable saying your annual income please do.

Edit - talking about individual income but if you want to post household too that’s great.

Options:
<£20k pa
£21k to £30k
£31k to £45k
£46k to £59k
£60k to £74k
£75k to £99k
£100k to £200k
£201k+
Am I a top earner, apparently Yes.

Kind of hit that age now. Well. 1 year ago.
Luckily i/we don't want a big house, A new car, things like a nice watch etc. Watch is a good one. A cheap watch does exactly the same as an expensive one.

Only really lavish thing for me is holidays (or experiences) that's all I really care about now tbh. The things I do in my time off. Weekends etc.

I've even pretty much stopped buying lego. As its just clutter.

Certainly having a small house helps a lot with not accumulating junk.

I've never earnt loads. But never struggled to the point of worry either.

I'm the equivelant of between £46k - £59k but more importantly, I have a fantastic work / life balance and am comfortable so I have no desire to earn more even though I could if I wanted to.
Good for you! I wish I had a better work life balance and was less focussed on career. I'm in my 40s and love my work but at my level now it's quite full on. Sure the pay is good but I'm actually looking for a new role with better benefits and less focused on salary.
