Are you allowed to have a radio or music in your work area?

Strange situation at work.

Currently Computer and Media Services (the department I run) is split between two offices with plans to build one office for all of us in the near future.

In my office members of my team can listen to music if it doesn't disturb me (or the others) and we can also computer game and watch TV (when no jobs are outstanding - doesn't happen much for me! :( )

In the other office where my new boss (why?) lives with the rest of the department he keeps telling them to turn the radio off, turn the TV off, and makes them do work even when there isn't any.

Guess he is in for a shock when the big office move happens. It's my team and they work well becuase I let them relax.

My team has already said if he tries it they will walk out, and my Web Desinger is UNISON rep!!!! Hahahahahaha.

Sorry for the long post...

The neighbouring area in our warehouse has a nice setup. Technics amp/tuner and 4 denon speakers. When all the equipment is off you can hear it around the whole building. That's not the case when everything is running though. Originally they were going to feed more speakers round to our area. But they said that they'd only have Leicester Sound or Century FM on. We told them not to bother and just bought minidisc/mp3 players instead. Bosses were ok with that as long as we only have 1 earphone in because of the possibility of forklifts, fire alarm etc.

I spend most of my day listening to the radio. I say the occasional word on it too ;)
No music though, it's boring old talk radio.

I listen to my iPod all day every day, except when I'm meeting with clients/colleagues. I work less when listening to music, but my day passes quicker. :p
