As per title, and do you think it is seen as a negative thing if you're not?
I'm primarily thinking in terms of your career, but I guess it applies in general too.

Personally I'm not particularly ambitious and it definitely seems that there is a perception that it's wrong not to want to strive for the top.
Career wise, I currently have a pretty easy life with little stress doing something that I enjoy.
I make decent money and as long as I keep enjoying it, I reckon I'll be happy to do the same thing until I retire.

I prefer the easy life to the ambitious life - so I guess I'll never own a Porsche or Ferrari and a huge house, but I can live with that.

/goes back to sleep:p

Not really. I just wanted to be the best at what I did and that was it.

These days I have zero ambition, but seem to be getting further career-wise with a laissez-faire attitude than when I actually tried.

I suppose there is such a thing as trying too hard.

Main ambition is to always be doing a job I enjoy and pays enough to keep me from constantly thinking about money. Not ambitious to the point that I want to spend my life climbing higher and higher up the ladder.

it definitely seems that there is a perception that it's wrong not to want to strive for the top.

I think this is correct.

I think I was born in the wrong country. I could quite happilly work in a bar or coffee shop, serving drinks all my life, and just....chill on the beach.

I don't want to work towards anything. I don't want to become some big cheese in a big company. I don't have any plans for a family or have any desire to own a supercar or huge house. I like doing as little as possible:p

I suppose the main ambition we all have is to be happy. For some people this means fancy jobs, cars etc, but for others it's just about having a decent standard of life and being around the people we love... Such is life.

I was insanely ambitious during my teenage years. Seem to have calmed it down a bit now with the aid of a beautiful women! Not sure if it's a good or bad thing but I'm a little more content now and not always stressing about life in general to such a severe extent.

I'm still aiming high but without the stress.

Not everyone can be at the top. I feel many are happy with this and eventually do settle for what they are happy with. Some unfortunately settle for less that what they are happy with.

I personally think I am ambitious, and I put that down to my upbringing in conjunction with the social class I am in/was a part of.

I don't want a high-powered job or anything like that, but the work I do do, I want to be good at it and do it properly.

So I suppose I am to an extent. Not in what career I want, but in wanting to do well at what I am doing.

For me it's purely about money. There is very little I wouldn't do to gain money within the law.

This sounds so harsh but in my opinion if you aspire to work 10 hours + a day and dont earn at least 60,000 a year (minimum) then I feel sorry for you and, frankly, those people should admire those that are content with a simpler life career-wise because they are getting more from life than many others who earn more money than them.

If the day comes that i have to get a 9-5 job then I will view myself as having failed in a big way.

I'm ambitious and pretty competitive but - hopefully - without being 'that guy'. I know a mix of people going from the very definition of slacker to guy-who'll-be-burned-out-by-35. I don't judge them on it, however. It's just who they are.

You will never be truly happy mate. I wish I could tell you how I know this but im not about to on a public discussion board.

Money does not make you happy. (It helps), but causes unimaginable amounts of problems.

Lotto winnar gone bankrupt?!
