I'm not too bothered about it. I might watch it to kill some time or if there is nothing else on but I'm not going sit down and spend a whole day watching it.

Doesn't the World Cup just bring together the football fans of the country? The proportion of people who would watch the Team GB competing at athletics might not be all that different to those who would choose to watch England or Ireland/Wales/Scotland (assuming we ever qualify again...) play football.

Not at all, when the last world cup was on we had Barbecue days/nights with many of the people that were there, were not into football just wanted to be part of it (mainly the drink i expect), but you never hear of any Olympic party's going on (away from London), just seems to be a sport that's dwindled over the years.

Don't get me wrong i hope it all goes well, just cannot see it been as popular as they expect.

Its a disgrace that the previous/current government decided to use UK taxes to pay for the English Olympics, and to make it worse north Wales councils are spending their money promoting London's folly >.>

I'm trying my hardest to feel interested but I've never really had any liking for those type of sports, and the way it's being run with the vile commercialism and pathetic torch running have made it distasteful so far. I'm not having a very easy job of liking it.

I don't mind the sports themselves, but the rest is a turn off.

Reminds me about the guy from mock the week talking about the Olympics and how there should be an Olympics for drug users and non drug users he said something like "if someone wants to pump their body full of **** and do the 100m in under 4 seconds, we'd bloody like to see it!"

It was Frankie boyle, "I want to see him running with the legs of a kangaroo and the heart of a leopard. I wanna see him run so fast that halfway through the race he disappears, like the car from back to the future, reappears at the finish line an old man, shouts ''beware china'' and crumbles into dust."
