Given that one of the people suggesting RMA works for AMD I think he will be ok.

Had my brother call me in a panic not long back having bent some pins on his 3700x, 20+ pins in various places (think they tried to install it at the wrong orientation)
I used a Stanley blade, mechanical pencil and micro tweezers, I also have a very cheap usb microscope I used to get in close to check the alignment of the pins in each direction.
In total it took me 2 hours to complete but slotted straight in to the board with no resistance.
Infact he owes me a few beers for that![]()
That signature = win! Mr Miyagi, what a legend! Daniel son, you can take or leave him but miyagi was a dude for sure!
2 hours? thats madness on 20 pins - Perhaps I am a but of a mad man, bend them back in 2 mins flat! Use the socket for final alignment lol
It was the ones towards the centre I was concerned about as a couple of them were flat down and I didn't want to snap them off.
One also had a kink in it which took a lot of persuasion to straighten out as I didn't think the socket realign a bent pin.
If it had of not worked I was going to delid it for the fun of it![]()
Yikes. Thankfully I've never used the pre-applied stuff - sounds like a nightmare.I think it's totally ******.
I can't believe how tacky that pre-applied stuff is.
Butt hole lube instead of thermal paste that's the answer.![]()
Every proper PCMR has at least three tubes of it scattered around. Also thermal paste.
Not all of us have it around the house![]()
RMA? Its over a year old though.
You've never had to bend back a socket pin on an Intel motherboard clearly. Eww that was a horrendous job.Happened to me building my stepson’s 1600. Terrifying and it was just one pin.
can’t remember how I bent it back but it worked.
One thing Intel does better IMO as mobos are cheaper to replace.
this20 pins... credit card, pair or precision tweezers and a bit of patience. Ive saved many a cpu with this method. Also as above never broke a pin yet.
