argh screwed up my first date ><

The principle of "comfortable silence" applies whatever the date. Do you advocate that every moment has to be filled with words (or sex)?

Body language and the unverbalised "message" in how we act or respond count for an awful lot in any relationship whether first date or otherwise. I've found over the years that there is great skill involved in interpreting the unverbalised and "transmitting" it, especially when woman are involved because they see that part of communication far more keenly than us males.

I see what you did thar.

Strikes me that if you don't have that much in common, why bother to pursue it?

Not trying to be negative here, but you put yourself in a situ (a club) that wasn't a great place for talking, and you don't like to dance.... were you hoping to simply snog all night?

If you still like this girl and think there may be potential then go for it, but if you don't think you'll be interested in her stuff, then SHOW INTEREST in what she likes. You might not give a flying rats arse about what she thinks of makeup etc, but have a laugh and joke about it anyway. It's only that way you get to know more about her and prob find out the proper interesting stuff.

First dates tend to be awkward anyway.
Sometimes...

As Mr Gilly said, you need to ask her out again. It will show you are keen and you'll get the chance to explain yourself.

Taking you along to a club where her friendship group consists of a **** fest, creates some real difficulties.

From my experience, blokes tend to have close knit friendship groups and are wary of new blokes. It was a trying situation, and certainly not first date material from what you said.

I remember when irish introduced me to a few of her friends. They had their bf's there and their bf's male friends were there also and I just couldn't "crack the group". Tried contributing to ongoing conversations and just got shot down with glances, and one word answers.

Was very strange as pretty much every other group of her bloke friends i've met through her have been very welcoming, and true to irish form, you're their best mate in ten minutes. But that particular group were dismissive to the point of being rude.

that would annoy the hell out of me, same as being asked 'are you ok' all night long!!
horrible idea.

indeed, possibly the recipe for the worst date ever.

Why dont you just tell her you're sorry for bailing early, and emphasise you wanted a date, not to stand about in a club watching her and her mates.
Ask if shes willing to give it another chance of just the two of you, and if she doesnt shes a blatent ***** and isnt worth it, whats the point in going out with someone whos only willing to give one chance and spits their dummy out etc?

Why do you want to see her again anyway? You have nothing in common, she effectively blew you off to see her mates, and all in all the date was crap (sorry). What is your motivation for seeing her again? If it is just that she is hot then why not find another hot girl who has more in common with you?

This is what i was thinking. Surely a girl who thinks its okay to drag you to a club so she can see her mates on the first date isn't even worth thinking about. Maybe after you've been going out for a while but not when your just getting to know each other. Even if you want to get into a relationship, being in a bad relationship is a LOT worse than not being in one at all, trust me i've been there.

if it was too awkward i could see why she'd want to see some mates, a club, few drinks, lighten the atmosphere up etc.

My current relationship my gf was quite scared of going on a date so i met up with her and some mates and we're together now, theres a few problems and struggles but they have nothing to do with that back then, some girls are just shy.

well iv heard thats the case in pompey ;)

My mrs is shy but iv taught her well in the bedroom, though she'll never be like a geordie :( sadly.

maybe she liked him so much that she also wanted to get her friends to know him.
