This new PC of mine (win7 ultimate activated and legit) keeps un-hibernating itself for some odd reason.
How can I find the cause. Looking in the event viewer, nothing leaps out.
I always set the bios wake options to disable, and I have disabled the NIC and mouse/kb from waking the computer in device manager.

Out of ideas now.

Check is the mouse can take the machine out of hibernation. It's in the device manager. Could be a bus going by and moving the mouse.

Check Control Panel/Power settings/choose when computer sleeps/advanced settings/Multimedia settings.

Make sure 'When sharing Media' is set to 'Allow computer to sleep'.

Mine kept waking itself sometime between 3 and 4 am. Eventually I found it was media center doing some sort of update. I managed to reschedule the task to a more civilised time but after a while it wold revert back. In the end I just removed media center

Quite a few programs are using services to update overnight now e.g. flash/google etc, so 3am isn't that uncommon now.

I think I have got tothe bottom of this.

Control Panel> Power Options > Change advanced settings > Sleep > Allow wake timers.

Once set to disabled, I have not had the issue again.

That's a fairly extreme way to fix it!

Did you check the Windows Update "install new updates" time? The default for that is 3am and whenever I've had similar problems it's usually been the culprit.

Have a look in scheduled tasks, was happening to me.

Think it was something to do with media centre?

+1

It was a scheduled task for me running at 2am to update media centre. I just changed the settings not to wake up and check again when its online :)
