Argos catalogue

Same age as me and I remember that very catalogue. Spent ages poring over the Thundercats, Transformers and Ma-Ma-Ma-MASK toys... (page 5) I had the green helicoptor bike amongst other things:D

And me!

Oh the feels!

Me three, must have read that catalogue back to front in the Autumn deciding what i wanted for Christmas, Went for the Transformer Metroplex in the end :)

I did a bit of work with Argos a few months ago, can confirm that the paper catalogue will be replaced once they've worked out how to get the costs down of it's replacement.

Up until a few days ago I hadn't used the catalogue for years and just searched the website.

However after getting one I forgot how nice it was to browse through. The website is great when you know what you want but it doesn't let you browse the way the catalogue offers. I think Argos could lose quite a few sales by ditching it.

Think there are too many groups of people i.e. older generation who rely on the catalogue to go fully digital yet :S

if they did away with the catalogue wouldn't the website have to be huge in order to compensante?

it is my understanding only a small amount is on the website.

My childhood Christmas = the Argos catalogue. In my letters to "Santa" I even put the page number

Actually the researcher told me there is tonnes more on the website than they can fit in the catalogue.

I wouldn't be adverse to them putting a small charge on the catalogue. That should stop people walking off with them everytime they go in.

Alas, I think this decision is more for eco reasons than financial ones, but surely recycled paper is used for them. It's cheap paper, not 1000 sheets of your best Basildon Bond.

It's more likely financial. Catalogues are extremely expensive to make and transport all around the country and with more and more people buying online it makes sense to follow the market. They also have store>home delivery coming in soon which supports the shift. Also quite cheap... £4.99 for same day delivery of however many goods you want on that order, slots within an hour after purchase I believe.

It'll be gradual though. I think we'll see smaller catalogues over time with emphasis of a bigger range available online, rather than the catalogue disappearing suddenly.

I was on the bay earlier and one or two items said do you want to pick it up at Argos. - That was 6.3mm to 3.5mm headphone adapter just for a PC - such a small item.

We only have room for three catalogues in our bog and they are Machine mart - Toolstation and Screwfix.
