Arma 2 multiplayer arranging thread

thanks for a good set of games last night - and thanks for helping a noob out understand things like teleport

Domination makes a HUGE more sense now

I'll be on tonight around 7.30pm then, I have a headset so I don't mind speaking, you'll have to put up with my dulcet brummie tones lol

The regulars definitely. The fly boys will ask for laser targets and work with the troops on the ground. The flying is the most regulated aspect on the server.

The infantry however is a bit more mixed. Basically at the moment we dont limit the ground weapons. So you can pick to be a medic, a DMR and a SMAW and effectively be Rambo. But I think we are looking to be a bit stricter on infantry soon.

Thats fine, limiting the weapons to roles could be a problem when there are less people on the server as there might not be enough people to cover roles.

erm, i'm connected to ventrillo, i can hear you lot, but for some reason you cant hear me lol! I've never used it before so i don't quite know what I'm doing. I've set a button for PTT but it doesnt seem to be working...
 
Thanks for the help guys, sorry I wasn't much use LOL. Rather a lot to take in on my first go in MP, still havent scratched the surface! And I'll try to bring batteries for the laser designator next time haha!
 
Havent played for a week or so (was joining team speak and thinking it was quiet, then realised tonight you lot were on ventrilo!!). Joined in again tonight. I see the Domination map is now locked to pilot class only? Shame really as there are 3 lift choppers, wreck chopper, cobra, harrier and F35 but only 4 pilot slots. I used to enjoy flying the wreck chopper about but the usual suspects are in the pilot slots. Is there any chance of having more pilot slots or going back to the old way?

version 3 ocuk domination has more pilot slots.. its in testing atm(thank l33 not me:D)
 
Yer sadly me, gord,and co was pilots :( 4 isnt enough as you said but atm we broke it down to 2 offence pilots me and gord (heli/plane) and 2 Pilots for troop movemnt, normally me and gord will go get the wrecks and bring them back, plus i normally call for a gunner in my cobra :) thou i had sparky in with me tonite. also main reason ull find us lot flying is so you dont have some nub crashing them or messing around but we know your a good pilot so :D just a matter of getting a spot :) anyhow soon Dom v3 will be out from l33 taht should fix a lot of things

I would feel guilty though taking up a pilot slot to be honest as I feel I'm stopping someone else from having a go which is why I personally preferred the old way. Still enjoy playing on the server, but think it was more fun when anyone could fly after being on the server for a while but that's just my opinion I thought I'd throw it into the mix.

Was playing on a 60 player PvP map earlier. Good fun as its satisfying killing human players, but the admins werent around and teamkilling galore was happening so I prefer the OC as most of the idiots get banned. There's nothing more annoying than running for 10 minutes and eventualy arriving at a town only to have a team mate shoot you because he was bored then he quits!!
 
I had trouble with arma2 crashing to desktop when on the Ocuk server last night.

No idea why as my ping seemed reasonable and its only happened on a couple of servers before. I have installed the latest ATI drivers so will give it another go soon :)
 
anyone else fancy non co-op ? just domination co-op seems to be a bit repetative in that the AI doesn't seem that smart sometimes ....

why not one group defending a town and another attacking ?

just had weird stuff last night - like 4-5 enemy just stood behind a building - doing absolutely nothing - while the rest of the town is getting taken over ....

TrackIR 5 does make a difference yes, especially with the helicopters .

When you first put on the TrackIR its like going from a keyboard and mouse on a PC over to using a game pad on a console, a bit awkward and you actually think wtf did i waste my money on this for lol; but then you all of a sudden get use to it and its brilliant.

Especially when someone gives you a command in the game and you look at them and nod and they are like WTF how did you do that.

Its also wicked for peeking around corners and having a quick check around you when your in a shoot out.

I find its best to use when your playing your mates or intense games

Just type OCUK into in the filter field on the ingame server brower. Or check the forums: www.ocuk-arma2.co.uk

All well and good, but the in game comms are bloody aweful. It causes lag, the audio quality is so bad you can barely hear people and most servers out there have it disabled anyway, including ours iirc.
 
so how do i play on this server if i'm not a 'regular' ?

and when i try to connect to vent it tells me the password is wrong

What is the OcUK Arma 2 lot up to these days? :D

It's Rob if any of you remember me. I'm at GOL with Shadowze and Xtrema now, anyone from OcUK old days should think about joining. They do realism, proper divisions within the clan (Air Corp etc) and the Sunday Ops usually have 60+ people all working together over TS2.

Be nice to see some of you again.
