Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead

any one running or interested in any fun co-op nights rather then hardcore gameplay (real tactics)? Don't know if I really enjoy that part so much.

If I enjoy BC2 will I enjoy this just as much?

probably not, Arma2 is a mil sim & it can be downright unforgiving. put a foot wrong & death is usually your reward pretty bloody quickly, but, tis very rewarding if you can get to grips with it. it's not really the kinda game like BC2 where you can just jump into it.

I may be making an assumption here, but selling point for you seems to be the graphics. Haven't played BC2 but if it's anything like BF2 then you highly doubt you will enjoy this as this is a damn unforgiving game and isn't as easily accessible in terms of community. Also to achieve those graphics in videos you would have to be Bill Gates himself and having to hook it up to your world domination Microsoft machine :p

Probably not

BC2 is a bit run n Gun , Arma2 is a bit more difficult and unforgiving
It is a much harder game and this is what puts most people off it (not many would put in the time to get a decent skill level)

Well I'm playing it on low settings on my ageing machine and it still looks great but like I said multiplayer can be a very confusing affair. I only started playing this a few months ago and I didn't have anyone to show me around so most of the time I was hiding in the bushes killing very little. If you start sticking your head out or even think about being Rambo someone is bound to zip you.

Agreed, ArmA2 is very much a more challenging game, but it was what got me into it. i prefer games that are more sim, where you have to think about what your doing rather than running in spraying. ArmA2 is the by far one of the best shooters i have played. im looking forward to playing ArmA2:OA.

I will get this, Im sure .T. Fox and Muffin will too... I still havent tried the ACE mod out. Does the SAS server run it?

I really miss the epic team work of the old OCUK nights on domination..... just playing domi all the time got a bit much.

I have heard that it can run like a dog even on high end systems and settings.

I have the following:

i7 920 (currently at stock)
6Gb Ram
2x 5850s (currently at stock)

I have a HP ZR24w which has a native res of 1920x1200.

As and when I get the game, I plan to set things at high and see how it goes.

I am a total quite a fanboy of Arma2 as I love the tactical/strategic nature of this game/simulation.... I've got all the latest games, but I play this more than any combined! Can't wait for Arrowhead!! Woot!

Anyway... Yes ARMAII is indeed a reasource hog, mainly not being able to utilise any memory over 2GB. (But that's another issue)

I currently run:

I7 950 @stock 3.06Ghz
6Gb DDR3 @1600Mhz
Asus P6T Deluxe V2
Gtx295 (Latest Beta drivers)
1Tb Hdd (Standard run of the mill)
26" Ilyama @1920x1200

Even with this quite pokey setup ARMA2 still had issues....but with the latest beta patches from Bohemia & the latest beta patch from Nvidia, I can now play ARMA2 on maximum settings and maintain a avgerage fps of around 30-40fps and anything from 20-30fps running around Chernogorsk.

The latest beta patches really do make a difference. (In my humble opinion)

Have to reinstall xfire and arma 2 so it wont be ready today.

Ok man, well let me know when you do, can join us for a game www.team-evinco.co.uk .

Can you run the ace mod on your own hosted server? so if me and friends downloaded some coop missions which required ace, would we all just have it installed and all would be good, or does the server have to be dedicated with ace running on it?
