Arma 2 performance

A GTX260 - at 2048x with 4xFSAA at 30-35fps solid ? sorry I just can't believe thats possible

at what graphics settings ?

Its is a bit of a hog - not to mention how laggy the input is - some people say it only happens to some people - but I think they are just insensitive to it - I've tried it on several systems with same result including playing on someones system who claims theres no input lag on theirs and still feel the crosshair playing catchup with your input...

Any how performance wise - on a single card with everything maxed out at 2048x res with 4x FSAA and a bit of overclocking I get ~30-35fps - average with 260GTX SLI is 55-60fps.

But with the horrid input lag it doesn't make much odds if you have 20fps or 100fps it feels the same - infact from the feel of the game I'd hazard they are only doing gameworld and input updates at 20Hz and rendering interpolated as fast as possible.

this game is so buggy...shame because you can see the potential there :( put back on the shelf at the moment, with stalker:clear sky

It's what i've done too, one day this game will be phenomenal ....but the input lag i cannot tolerate for now.

try turning of phisicsX in drivers page helped me get about 5 to 10fps.

this game is a hog its not your pc tbh its the game it needs to be optimized arma 1 was the same.

My mahooosive input lag disappeared completely with the EVGA SLI Enhancement.

It literally was completely unplayable beforehand.

From what I've seen it's really a lottery as to which, of the numerous fixes works for you. Many people find the EVGA enhancement works for them, Nvidia released there own one not so long ago too. I found rolling back to XP the best solution. I get a solid 5500 in arma2mark, with all settings on normal, including AA/AF and post process effects, with a resolution of 1600x900. Gameplay is solid at 60 fps with those settings and a view distance of 3000. If you honestly have tried everything, I can personally garuantee rolling to XP is worth the shot, this game is simply stunning on even normal settings with the VopSound mod. As I said, if anyone needs some help with their cfg getting their game to run to it's potential, don't hesitate to drop me a message!

Also, everyone needs to stop saying this game is simply unoptimized like crysis etc. It certainly has it's share of bugs graphically, but, if you take the necessary steps recommended by BI (the company who made it), it runs perfectly fine. I was pretty annoyed I had to move back over to XP to get to that stage, but honestly, it was more than worth it, never had this much fun on a game, hands down.

After some considerable testing completing the single player campaign, I can confirm that ARMA2 is unfortuanatly horribly buggy!

I have a Core i7 CPU which it hates: FIX, you have to turn off hyperthreading!

I have 12GB of ram which it hates: FIX, I had to physically remove 10GB to make it run stable.

I have SLI graphics which it also hates: FIX, I had to install EVGA SLI Enhancement

So with 4 cores, 2GB of ram and SLI patch installed it runs perfectly fine!

I love Arma2 but playing it with such a modified system is a complete pain in the bum.

PS, running the command line switches to limit ram, cores and put it into winxp mode also did not help with the problems.

The EVGA SLI Enhancement (and the renaming of arma2.exe to crysis.exe) is the same as adding a custom profile for the game in the nvidia control panel. Setting "Force Alternate Frame Rendering 2" sorted out my frame rate issues completely with the 295 card.

I'm also running an i7 920 with 6GB ram in windows 7 rc1 64-bit. No need to go back to XP for me.
