***ArmA 3 Thread***

wow that fog system looks fantastic! Very tempted to grab this, just wondering has the multiplayer performance improved much since alpha launch? From what i was reading on here and other places was that missions like wasteland were tanking performance hard and since thats what i will be mostly playing it would be good to know.
 
I have never had a performance issue with A3 alpha as such.

In the beginning there were a few random crashes, but from an fps standpoint A3 was IMO (compared to previous iterations of Arma) pretty decently optimised from the get go.

Couple of questions folks.

I've been playing Wasteland for a week or two now and generally just jumping into a server for a bit of fun but I'm still a bit confused over some things.

Firstly, are server rounds timed to last a short period?. I was playing in a server the other night and every 15 mins or so I just died where I was stood and given the option to respawn. I wasn't shot or anything it was almost like it was 'time up!' and time to start again or something?. Most annoying when I had spent ages trekking from one side of the island to the other and built up a bit of cash and a nice assault rifle I blagged from a dead player.

Secondly, and this might be a daft question but when playing alone and not with a buddy to hook up with, what do you folks do?. Make your way to busy locations and just ambush folk?. Sit overlooking weapons stores/cache' and wait for unsuspecting players to come along?. Or just generally run around the island running and gunning?.
 
Just a heads up for anyone who ordered day one supporter edition, I think you're getting a €25 coupon for Bohemia's store which seems to reduce the price of Arma 3 to £2 if you want to grab it for a friend.

I am sure this has been already mentioned in this thread but there are too many pages. How come when browsing for servers most of them are unavailable and have crosses next to them? I have the game up to date in steam.

Got the email as well. Would love to know if there is an expiry date on it, if not then I will save it for any Standalone addons which may come out in the future.

Find a good server and the multiplayer is great. Unfortunately I've just spent the last 30min's going between a few servers (no password on them) and each time the same script kiddie has trashed it.
 
Try Goonies for team deathmatch, quick action. Though the script is a pain its dramatic at least, apparently alpha implements too much access to the server hence the hacks feel obliged to make a mess of games.

They probably should allow admin to see who is sending what commands easily, strain out normal movement data to make anything else obvious. Then kick, ban etc

Are you running the dev build or are you possibly searching for dev build servers?

Wrt to our Arma 3 Wasteland server, the "hack" is getting out of control now with client side mission alterations causing the widespread death, we have taken the step to password our Arma 3 Wasteland server, it probably won't help but it's worth a try as the dev build is effected too now :mad:

Just a personal opinion, would it not be better to remove the 'hack free' bit? If i were a hacker I would interpret that message as 'Hackers get in here now!!!', im sure a password won't keep them out forever...

It's not hackers, it's infected clients, they have to restart Arma 3 to clear it, and if we provide a clear server everyone can get on with their game :)
