Hi Guys,

Just bought arma gold edition, patched to 1.14, when i start the game i just get 5 blank boxes on the screen :(

Have tried googling, various people have the issue, no solutions though? but their nvidia based guys.

My specs

q6600
2 x 3870x2's i have tried disabling crossfire
8gb ram
vista 64bit


Any suggestions appreciated.

I know it doesn't help much, but I run Arma 1.14 on Vista x64 so it cant be something directly related to that. Have you tried installing the latest version DirectX 9.0c (June 2008)?

Yep just tried that in vain hope :(

Im getting a similar issue to what people were getting way back on 1.5+ 5 blank boxes at the bottom of the screen, but that was a widely reported nvidia bug apparently lol. :(
 
I remember back in an earlier version (1.08 and earlier maybe?) there was issue whereby you couldnt run Arma on an x64 OS with 4Gb of RAM or more, maybe try taking your system down to 2Gb just to see if it runs?
Guess you've tried running it in XP SP2 compatibility mode etc?

Not really willing to gutt my machine from 8gb down to 2gb to get 1 game working lol.

Yep tried in compat. mode.

Looks like its not ment to be :(
 
What settings have you got on CCC (or any graphics software like Ati Tray Tools) ? Have you tried setting them at defaults ?
Also try renaming the C:\Users\(username)\Documents\ArmA folder, so the game has to recreate it.

No real help from me other than I'm on 64 bit Vista, 4Gb, 8800GTS and using patch 1.14 with no issues. I did have the memory limit problem prior to 1.14 that forced me to take 2Gb out to get it to run. Your PC seems to load the game ok but I would try it with 4Gb anyway as 8Gb may be causing problems now! Even just to eliminate that as the issue.

I'm still enjoying messing about with the editor and mods. Never been online!

At least Arma2 isn't far off. Maybe that'll work for you Datamonkey!

Hummmph

I'm running Vista x64. 4Gb Ram, 4870X2, patched to 1.44 but ArmA only works if I drop the system to 2Gb :( Otherwise it's just the black boxes and no game.

Anything I can do to solve this?
 
I had similar problems with the demo. Running msconfig, going to the boot tab, then advanced, and then dropping the max memory from 4096 to 3072 and it worked perfect and I didn't have to open my machine. x64 and 4gb of ram and it dirts the bed.

will give the -maxmem=2048 to the short cut a go.

I tried the game again after doing a clean install last week and it didnt work, forgot about this thread lol, i started it back in July :D
 
"F:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA\arma.exe" -nosplash -maxmem=2048

That is what mine looks like, though I didn't need the maxmem, but I added it to test.

Make sure you are running the latest version (1.14).
