ArmA2 and TrackIR5

I dunno how much ill use trackir, ill start playing racing games thats for sure. Maybe dust off me racing wheel in the loft.

You want to be getting into flight sims really, that's where it really shines in my opinion :)

Looks very impressive. Have been tempted to pickup v4 but for $212.35 including shipping and the discount from dslyecxi direct from the makers v5 looks the better deal. Still several weeks to go till release for the game so I will wait and try out first before committing.

I got stung by customs and courier handling/admin ( ) charges when I ordered my TrackIR 4, even though I'd already paid for shipping, so be aware of that.

What noob friendly sims do you recommend? I have been wanting to move away from FPS for some time but get overwhelmed by the amount I would need to learn.

I'm after a game that isn't totally arcadey like flying in bf2, but I also don't want to have to get a pilots licence to fly. Wheres the middle ground?

I understand Arma2 is going to be good for trackir.

Get IL2 1946 from GOG.com, it's highly configurable so you can turn down the realism, though to be honest you'd be better off not doing so :)

The new version 5 software is up at the following link for those of you going from Trackir 4 Pro to version 5. ;)

Version 5.0 - Beta 01

I'm presonally quite impressed by the release but would be good to hear what others think of it who are going from 4 to 5.

Lock On is pretty damn easy to use if you just want to fly around, fire off a few missiles and then land. It does have some more complex features but you don't really need to know about them.

And yes if you're in America I would get it then.

I tried the V5 software with my trackir4 , I ended up uninstalling it
and going back to the earlier version of the software

Some nice new shiney looking UI stuff , but older version had better functionailty

As regards a flight sim to try , +1 for IL2 1946 ( get hyperlobby for multiplayer)
The single player mode is like watching grass grow , multi is where it is at
