Hi as as title realy im a big fan of OFP and i loved ARMA after they patched it a few times .

but just wanted to know how many of you like these games and the realism it brings to gaming?.

Personaly I want OFP2 & ARMA2 to be as real as possible what do u lot think.

P.S if any one is interested a coop night sounds fun but I cant be server as ive only got 2mb cable broadband.

Its been a long time since we have heard any thing about OFP2, in fact we have barely seen any thing about it.

Never really got into Arma but I loved the original OFP. I'm kind of worried about the upcoming sequels though - they're coming to consoles apparently, which could mean a dumbed-down experience and/or a bad port as is usually the case these days.

I never played ARMA or OFP but I am looking forward to both of these after watching a couple of videos on youtube and looking at the articles on wikipeidia.

The multiplayer stuff looks interesting as well.

Looking forward to them both but I can wait.

From what I have seen of Arma 2 its still going to have the same level of detail in the vehicles. Decent models but really poor handeling, physics and interiors. I could never get on with the AI command structure in arma one but it looks like they have improved the AI and the way you give it orders, but they said this on armas release as well.

And OFP2, nice level of detail and the bradley looks fantastic. But I have doubts about the realism, as its being made for console as well and I always dred its just going to be a cheapo port. Even if they say it wont be. Only 4 player multiplayer, thats a limitation right from the consoles already.

ArmA still requires a hefty setup to run near max details, I'll cry if I can't have ArmA2 looking nice. :(

Can't wait for ArmA2, just for the lan goodness.
Just incase anyone hasn't tried it yet, make sure to try out the Evolution mod for ArmA whilst we wait for the sequel. It's great fun and yet another thing which drags out the life of the game.

Regarding OpFlash2, meh... I have my doubts, especially after the initial CGI trailer and lack of news. Time will tell, I guess.

I haven't played either of the first games but the sequels are looking good enough for me to dip my toe in when they emerge!

Although i may have to do some upgrading to CPU & GPU first!

I agree about it being dumbed down from console port if they do I'm gonna be mega peed off I'm telling ya.

coop play in arma is the mutz we use ventrilo for team chat.

ofp2 I'm looking forward to but like u say aint heard to much on it.

but mainly arma2 videos do show it looking real and I think we should have a great coop game on our hard drives very soon (fingers crossed).

I'm concerned OFP2 will be similar to COD4. As the realism aspect of OFP came moreso from Bohemia Interactive who are currently developing ArmA 2. Regardless we won't know until both games are released, but my money is that ArmA 2 will be the "realism simulator." Did'nt realize so many people here had played OFP and ArmA ... they're both my favorite games :)

amen my favorite games to honest me and my bro still to this day say arma and ofp are the best games ever made I love war sims and this is the best of em.

I do love gtr and gtr2 there my favorite racing sims.the harder the game the better I live it.

we will have to hook up soon m8 my friend has 16mb bb and he has a vent server its great we play coop.

sorry just to clarify gtr and gtr2 is a simbin racing game they have to be the two most realistic racing sims on pc.

Hi
Another ex OFP and current Arma player here, though only got singleplayer on OFP and missed many of the later mods (real life kicked in there for a while).

From the info so far on Arma2 and the planned multicore support I believe the AI will feature much more prominently in single and coop games as it will get much more processing power. I'm not expecting huge leaps forward in other areas like graphics or map sizes, as these are about right currently (a few mins a in blackhawk in transit to an LZ is fine), but small things like not being able to step or jump over 12 inch fences should be addressed. With the wealth of addon maps, soldiers, civilians and vehicles currently available for Arma (not to mention mods like A.C.E.) being (reportedly) easily portable to the new system, I think for the PC community the game will hopefully attract back some of the players who left due to the instability of the early releases.

Now if they could fix it for small user defined missions (of the spawn-kill-die-repeat COD variety) to be downloaded and accessed by console players as well as PC players they could be onto a winner (did'nt OFP Elite on the Xbox allow something like that ?). Could open up the game to a console community bored with COD, or perhaps we want to leave the constantly sniping blighters where they are ?

Personally, I believe OFP2 has its work cut out both to compete with Arma2 at the sim end of the scale and COD at the arcade end, though I think arcade is probably where it will land, with a higher level of customisation. But then, thats what I hope for BF3.

well in the latest video they show the player climbing over a fench can't look for link right now as its abit slow browsing on me pda (not at home still won't connect to me router).

but yep arma looks good

I hope they sort the damn interface and controls out which are clunky, too complicated and non intuative. Dumbing down might not be such a bad thing.

I completely disagree the controls are not clunky I have problems with that its only overwhelming at first because u have so many things u can do.

dumbing down is not an optoin the controls are fine I say.

How is ARMA these days? Did they fix the utterly terrible enemy AI that could shoot you from 2 miles away when you were prone in a bush in total darkness?

they have improved the ai but still seems harder for humans to spot them than it is for them to spot us.

still its a very good game and hopes to see u allmplaying arma2 soon coop

They shouldnt dumb the gameplay down but the interface was unnecessarily complex and now looks dated. You got used to where things were in the end but it still wasnt very fluid.
