ARMA2 & OFP2 who else cant wait

Really enjoyed Arma, but I struggled with the controlling the AI. OFP was also great, but once again getting to grips with AI.. not great. Much preferred the missions where I was just a grunt and my squad leader would order us around!

If some kind of command rosette i.e. battlefield could be implemented that would be great and a lot more fluid.

I was dissapointed with some of the early shots, they didnt seem to have better detail inside the vehicles. I saw a screenshots recently that looked more detailed with some nice looking instruments, it wasnt Black Shark quality, and of course it doesnt need to be. But it had the basics in nice quality and fully readable.

that was one of my main gripes with ArmA 2, if they can get the AI sorted out, and make a command structure way to order them about ("team 1 move here", "team 2 cover south" etc) then this will be a great game.

Looking forward to it! Q1 09 release date I think.

Just seen the video. Looks decent. I never really flew stuff but my brother says the flight system wasn't the best so hopefully they'll have improved that.

The A-10 looks class. Love the sound effects when it goes overhead. Just hoping the sound effects are spot on for the gattling gun.

As long as a generic armed civilian can't shoot you from 200 miles away with a rusty AK47, in the night, when you're dressed in a ghillie suit, hiding in a leafy hedge.... It'll be a better game. :D

Haha that was so annoying when you'd progressed to the end of a mission and one little guy shoots you from his house 2 miles away. Infuriating to the max

Given Codemasters record recently (Racing games) I carn't help feeling pessimistic, yes it should look good but physics will probably be very basic.

Big fan of OFP but Arma was very poor given the time frame, OFP with mods was better.

I'm confident BIS have learnt from the last release, given they have 2 games to compare I;d say they'll be looking back to see what made OFP such a popular game and advancing on that, one would hope so at least.

Try the ACE or XAM mods for improved AI and additional units. Arma has changed drastically from the original installation with features such as dragging injured mates, supress fire, AI popping smoke/flares, flanking troops and increased randomn reactions. What needs fixing is the ability to climb over obstacles, walking thru buildings and vanishing textures in towns.

Damn right. ACE for ArmA is amazing and pretty much all I play on PC these days.

Agreed it's a little clunky but it's still the best battlefield sim out there currently.

+1 for ACE - with Coop play there is a lot more to the game and some of the issues are addressed. I usually kit out as medic, though am still getting to grips with the other treatments (like plasma). And yes, the A10 gun is pretty awesome when let off nearby.

I'm currently trying out the Afghan village map and new Taliban units just released - just waiting for someone to release a 'Ross Kemp' mission - that guys got some balls (and the director/cameraman) to go in there without a weapon. Respect to all the serving troops.
