Or you could just stop stating your opinion like it's a fact ;).
Or people could wise up to the fact that when talking about music almost nothing is fact

It doesn't really bother me since I've long since learned to mentally translate everything you say before I reply to it - but when dealing with those unfortunate souls who haven't learned Gillyspeak yet, it would probably save your fingers if you said what you meant.

Obviously, I'm just looking out for your wellbeing here!

I dont like them much, I see a lot of people like them probably becuase they wear converse and play guitars. I think its just over drawn northen accents with ska-like guitaring, very much like Mike Skinner/ Libertines aswell.

Yeah, definitely. Either that or they like the songs.

Na a lot of people like the Indie image that comes with pretending to like music. Very sad indeed.

I've never really paid much attention to their footwear, I openly admit to being biased towards them as they do indeed play guitars. Plus that I'd rather listen to them than any emo, nu-punk or nu-metal bands that I can think of. I don't see the Libertines comparison apart from being lyrically adept. They're one of the few bands I've seen or heard lately that isn't trying to play up to a particular image of themselves which is refreshing. I don't think they're the best band out at the moment, but they are in the top tier. And I'm off to see 'em on Friday, though the touts are ripping me off something ludicrous.

Anyone else find it funny that they've released this new EP around when they're touring? Especially as they got a MASSIVE slating after their half-arsed performances on the NME Tour.. "Please come, we've got a couple of new songs (which everyone's heard before already)".

Note - I am by no means saying that no-one wanted to see them on this tour, merely that a lot of people were ****ed off with their poor performaces on the NME Tour. Saw them "before they were big" in small venues and they were awesome, really loving the music having a laugh and a good time. Saw them on the Tour, pffft ****ers! :p

I think that you should spend more time listening to music, and less time trying to psychoanalyse people who like to listen to music. That way you might find that you don't have enough time to notice what brand of footwear the Arctic Monkeys are wearing.

I do have tendancies to psychoanalyse people i suppose this natural wanting to be a psychologist :p And no i havent got a clue what footware they have, i just presumed. Sorry for my generalisation of Arctic monkey fans ;)

edit - God i was way out, I'v just read that the bloke off news-night like them aswell!

I have tickets for Sat night, Newcastle. I am not too bothered tbh. They are ok. Expecting a bad crowd....pint chuckers, surfers, and mobile phone videoers. To combat this sense of apathy I intend to get very drunk :)

What did you make of them? I actually thought they were better live than on album. They went a bit overboard with the lightshow though.

Though you're right, it was full of pint chuckers and mobile phone videoers..... and some complete spanner stood in front of me making stupid devil horn things with his hands all through their songs. I think he'd wandered in by mistake and thought he was watching Black Sabbath or someone.

The place was full of kids who were paralytic by 8:30.
There was a queue to the toilets, and the bouncers came over to disperse it, as the urinals were pretty quiet it was the cubicles everyone was trying to get into...... If you know what I mean. Then some plucky young chap blurted out "But, I do actually NEED a poo......"

Pity that quite a few of the british bands of last summer seem to have dissipated off, I want to hear more of Bloc Party, The Killers, Hard-Fi etc...

arnt The Killers from America? :p

personally i don't rate the arctic monkeys at all, it's a very ordinary album, feel much the same about bloc party, the killers are ok when i'm bored. hard-fi i'm not sure, i think it's pretty ordinary overall.

interestingly i do like the libertines, i think there are some good tracks on the album and it's easy to listen to.

that said, editors are better than all of them, put together, twice. (i imagine some people will find the back room to be a pretty ordinary album but it's my favourite newish album)

They are a good band live. Saw them on the NME Tour but Maximo Park were much better live :).

Tried to get tickets for the AM's blackpool gig but they sold out too fast :(

Gotta agree with that statement. Arctic Monkeys were average, they played the songs ok but crowd interaction was kept to a bare minimum. Kinda wish I'd sold my ticket now.
