So, back in September I order a new 3 piece suite from a well known high street catalogue store. I was told it would be delievered within 28 days. After several delays and phone calls with some pretty damn rude customer services representatives, the suite was finally delivered today. Thank God, I was beginning to think I'd be waiting till after Christmas.

So I start to unpack the suite and........ ONE OF THE ******* SOFAS IS COMPLETEY WRONG!!!

Useless muppets.

I got straight on to customer services, explain the situation, only to be told by the representative (who sounded like a girl of about 12, but at least she wasn't in India), that 'the item is no longer available, there nothing we can do'

Of course I wasn't accepting that, and argued with her, but she kept spouting the same crap. Eventually I told her she obviously has no clue what she was doing, and to get a manager. I had lost my temper a bit by then, the girl sounded close to tears :o

Anyway I had a bit of better luck with the manager, she has told me they do have some in stock, but they are allocated to other customers. She said they may be able to take one of them for me, but no promises. I'm sat here waiting for her to call me back.

Idiots

Why get upset? The worst that can happen is you'll get a full refund and perhaps something for your inconvieniance. I am sure there must be another three piece you could find that you like. Chill out ;)

Muppets, how can you pack the wrong sofa?

I had fun with MFI - ordered a Sofa, 6 weeks delivery, that came and passed, got messed around for another 4 weeks, various delivery dates.

I think it got to 4 months then I gave up, asked for a refund - and they tried to refund me the current price which was £100 less. Er I dont think so sunshine - got full refund in the end.

I know, especially as the other Sofa and chair are correct. I mean, the correct ones are chocolate brown, the wrong one is cream.........

It's easy to say chill out, but we have been waiting for this as we have just re-decorated the living room and have already had this delayed twice. It's hugely frustrating.

Why not just say that this isn't what you ordered, come and pick it up and give me a full refund?

Yeah that's what is going to happen if they can't get the correct one. Which is fine, but still hugely frustrating, as I'll have to order another suite from somewhere else, and have another long wait.

It's just really inconvienient.

I don't doubt it's frustrating. Were I in your position then I'd most likely be annoyed. I'm just suggesting a sense of perspective ;)

hopefully you paid for it with a credit card. Give the company 7 days to replace or refund, then if no joy claim your money back from the CC and let them sort it out.

gah if its the well known company im thinking of, we're supposed to be ordering a suite from them soon.

damn

Muppets they maybe, annoying no doubt.
But shouting at the first girl you spoke to on the phone and almost reducing her to tears - really required?

Well, if she could come up with an answer, other than there is no more of his in stock, then maybe you could say he went over the top. But as she was insistent on being very unhelpful, why shouldnt he be able to vent his frustration at her?

exactly!!! why bother trying to get justice from incompetent customer services.

Its like someone taking your money saying they would give it back at X date and when they dont you can either.

a) plead with them to give it back (its gaining interest in their account)

b) just claim it back via cc company. Bottom line is; in this transaction they have not kept their side of the deal thus the deal is off.

ahhhhhhh I hate that!
makes you want to blow your lid doesn't it!

had the same thing happen to us with a load of medical supplies, things that we ordered to be delivered to some clients (bath boards etc) half of them turned up at our place (we specified the delivery addresses as different from the invoice address) and the ones that DID turn up at the right places where either not what we ordered or broken!

they still charged us for the damn items tho!

isn't there some law or other about them taking payment for goods even tho they know they can't supply them to you?

I'm hoping this isn't the same well known high street catalogue store that I'm hoping to order 2 sofa's from in the next week or so, was hoping to have them by xmas....

But I have a feeling it is!!! :o(

Well, it wasn't a case of simply yelling at her till she cried, but she continually told me they couldn't do anything. This was immensely frustrating, hence me losing my temper.

Anyway, an update:

They never called me back, but I called them. They said basically all they can do is collect and refund, or we can choose an alternative suite for the same value. I had a look at what else they have, and they do a 2 piece suite for the same value that's very similar, but obviously being 2-piece that doesn't include a chair.

I asked them to let me keep the chair from the 3 piece (it's very similar), and they agreed. So I am basically getting a chair that's worth a few hundred for nowt, and two sofas that are better that the ones I ordered (all leather as apposed to faux-leather/leather mix).

nothing bad at you but before you can say she was being unhelpful, you need to know her side aswell.

any way i find shouting at them doesnt help but keeping your cool does.
