Check out this article  R.Madrid fans and players were left in shock after the way Reyes played, seems like he thrives on the big occation. Lets hope he will do the same for us.

Incoming fees: £84.5m
Net outlay: £17.9m

No manager over 7 years could match that and bring in the success Arsene has, that is why no matter who he buys we have faith in him. He has made some bad buys but he has made super buys as well.

We never usually release figures but so many were flying around yesterday I think they chose to let the actual amount out.

Reyes is definitely worth the nine million up front or so. There is no clearer young talent in Spain, except maybe Vicente. This lad is really something.

I have watched Reyes mesmerise opposition defenders and this can only mean the dawn of a new era for Arsenal FC. I can see him fitting right into the team as his playing style is very much the flowing, beautiful game Arsenal play.

Arsenal are already close to unstoppable as it is and I cannot bear to imagine what will happen to ManYoo when they meet next time around. I hate to admit it but Arsène Wenger is the shrewdest manager in the English game (forget Gilberto Silva and Wiltord. We have done worse with Kleberson and Forlan).

Saha for 12.825 million in a depressed market? Sir Alex should really be thinking about retirement. I am starting to believe rumours that he is held at gunpoint whenever a deal is being tabled.

This transfer really pains me as a ManYoo fan as all our transfers put together can never hope to rival this. Whenever I see Darren Fletcher, Kleberson and David Bellion starting for United, I am filled with despair and forgive me for comparing them with Arsenal's midfield.

Sir Alex may have visions about a new batch of fledglings whenever he pleases but when Scholes, Giggs and Keane are gone, he will wish he hadn't planned so far ahead. All the best to Reyes!

...I'm pretty astounded by Arsenal's signing of Reyes. Where have they got the money from?! I'm astounded, but also, as a United fan, more than a little worried.

I saw the 4-1 game against Real Madrid and it is no exaggeration to say that he absolutely destroyed them, he even had the job done and dusted before half-time. The Real defenders didn't have a clue how to stop him, one poor sod got taken off after about 25 minutes and was in tears! Actually crying! I have never seen anything like it.

He's being described as a left-sided player but I could see Wenger moving him into the middle a la Henry. Them two together up front? Bloody hell.

Is he worth it? If Louis Sahahaha is worth £13million then this kid is a bargain.

Jamie Stewart, a worried (and slightly annoyed we haven't got him) United fan
P.S. He was actually crying!

ROFL :D

He has Overmars' wing play and Bergkamp's elegance

Also this is what Overmars said about him

He is a big talent in Spain.

I was very surprised when I heard Arsenal had snapped him up.

There were rumours he would move to one of the big Spainish clubs, including Barcelona.

Playing for a great manager like Arsene Wenger can only help him in his development.

Mr Wenger is very good at getting the best from young players and Reyes is in very safe hands.

I wish him all the best at a club that is still very special to me

We are still special to him? Unlike a certain Petit and Anelka I don't ever remember him bad mouthing the club when he left and I remember him saying good things about the fans. Was a great player for us, probably was offered good money and got the chance to play for Barca who were at the time a better club than us. Still remember his goal at Old Trafford when he put the ball between Schmeichal's legs and scored :D

im still amazed they are letting him go now rather than the summer, they are chasing a european place.

Arsenal offered more than they thought they could get. We made an offer in the summer and they laughed at us and said we couldn't buy hit boots with that much. They probably had in mind how much they wanted for him. We probably offered a figure just over that and they had to accept. Reyes didn't want to go to another spanish club and we were probably the only foreign club who had shown proper interest. Chelsea had Duff who is in good form and everyone knows your after Robben. We went for him now coz if he plays in euro 2004 there is a good chance many more clubs will go after him and his price would rise, also we were short on a striker/attacking midfielder.

They are saying we offered them silly money to get the fans off their back, some fans were gonna put bricks through the window of the president house (or something like that) so he had to make it out as if we made them a crazy offer.

Reyes passes his medical

Also says his squad number has not yet been confirmed! I swear I thought he said he was gonna wear No.9, would be weird for player who isn't an out and out striker to wear the No.9 shirt though!

I'm hearing he might still be available for the City game, the spanish FA haven't said yet whether they want the suspension to carry over

Was snowing badly in west london as well! I hope he plays, I'm gonna watch that match so really wanna see him play!

He might give Adams No.6 shirt to him, when Wenger gave freddie the No.8 shirt the main reason was that he didn't want another striker to have it due to history behind the shirt. He felt it would add pressure on the striker he gave it to so he chose a midfielder instead. Freddie in true Wright fashion scored on his debut against Man utd and got booked :D

Helguera thinks he is better than Owen! Wait a min is that a good thing or not  :p hehe, in Spain they rate Owen very highly so this is a big compliment to him. He also thinks he should have come to R.Madrid!

Reyes was in tears when he left Seville for Highbury, must be hard for a person so close to their family to leave them behind with such short notice :(

More details of the deal here, seems like we have done this deal very well and it won't cost us as much as some are making it out.

It looks like he will be able to play on Sunday as the spanish FA haven't told the english FA and I read that they aren't gonna ask for him to be suspended. His shirt Number has not been confirmed yet.

He has got his international clearance and has been confirmed that he can play against Man City :D I wonder if Wenger will start with him, doubt it but I hope so!

His mother, father, girlfriend and brother are gonna move here with him. This is very good news as he will probably get depressed on his own! He has had rough upbringing and is close to his family so probably needs them by his side. Also giving him £500 a month just for phone calls to Spain!

Wenger, Pires, Cesc, Senderos and Lauren can all speak spanish so that helps, Edu + Gilberto also speak portugese which is kinda similar to Spanish IIRC.

Really good bye for arsenal, looks an awsome player. But what i dont understand is why united are paying £12mill for saha and not even consiering buying a player like reyes. I dont understand what fergie is thinking:mad: I just bloody hope saha can score 20 goals a season every season (which i doubt)

The main reason you haven't gone for him is because you have Giggs and that Fergie is very interested in Arjan Robben from PSV. You could have used someone Reyes upfront but Fergie probably wanted a proper out and out striker.

The more I think about it, the more I'm thinking we won't see the best of Reyes this season.

True, like you said he will need time to settle in. He has all the tools to adapt to this league though.

Wenger sees him as a striker, so he will convert him from a winger into a proper striker. I remember when Henry signed, he was saying the exact same thing and gave Henry a run of games upfront. Went quite a few games without scoring then scored that stunner against Southampton.

Well imo, it's finally the shift of power from Man Utd to Arsenal.

I wouldn't quite go that far!
