Arsenal v Villarreal + AC Milan v Barcelona (Spoilage)

Edge of the seat stuff once again but what a result. They've been an absolute breath of fresh air in Europe this season and undoubtedly the most exciting English team to watch. Well done and good luck in the final.

Coming back from 3 goals down is soooo last year :o

:D
Unbelievable just doesn't do it justice, doing it twice in back to back ties omg  they HAVE to win the final now.

Damn, completely forgot about this match and I wanted to watch it! Sounds like a cracking match... will it be repeated on 5 tonight? (Assuming it was on 5 earlier)

Delighted for Boro, hopefully they can go on to win it.

It was on ITV4. Great match, lightning does strike twice!

How are they better if they don't score? To me, a team that can't finish their chances don't deserve to go through, as seen in the Milan Barca tie when Milan could and should have scored 3 goals at the San Siro.

Stop talking rubbish. A team can dominate a match from the first minute to the 89th minute, hit the bar 17 times, have 4 perfectly good goals disallowed, yet still lose to a 90th minute goal that deflected in off the ref's arse. If you saw a game like that, you'd still say the team that won was the better team? Never in a million years, and you know it.

No need for hostility Davey :) You'd have to question the teams finishing ability if they proceeded to hit the bar 17 times and not find the net once. Buy a new striker maybe?

In the situation you described however, one would certainly feel aggrieved if that did actually happen. We all know that disallowed goals are part of the game, but can't you see it from a different perspective and say that if the team did have 17 good chances and hit the bar every single time, their claim for being the better team isn't a particularly strong one.

As I've said before, at the end of the day goals decide games - the team that scores the most has earnt the right to advance.

Apologies for being sharp, I was in a bad mood last night :)

I stand by my point though. There is a huge difference between earning the right to go through (which you do by scoring more goals) and deserving to go through (by being the better team, dominating possession, creating more chances etc). Often the two are the same, but not always. I still think the CL final last year is a great example. Milan were the better team, not even many Liverpool fans will argue otherwise, but Liverpool still won. In the 1999 CL final, a lot of people would argue that Bayern were the better team, but 2 injury time goals later and Man Utd were champions of Europe. Did they earn it? Certainly, they scored more goals. Did they deserve it? No, probably not.

Edit: I will also add that in both games the result was the one I wanted, so it's not bias against Liverpool or Man Utd :)

I agree that a team can play better football and lose, but if that team doesn't take it's chances and the other team does then they do deserve to win (maybe with the exception of wrongly disallowed goals). So in the 2 games you just mentioned Man U and Liverpool deserved to win (Didn't watch Barca - Milan so can't comment on that).

I really really hope he doesn't because he's cup tied :p

I never knew that. :o

In that case, he'll have to play Reyes further forward. Arsenal can't afford to show Barca too much respect. They must try and get on with their own brand of football rather than sit back and admire Barca's.

Liverpool didn't score more than Milan though ;) so how did they deserve to win

Played for Monaco in the Qualifying rounds. RvP would be more likely to joing Henry upfront imo
