Hi, long time reader here and my first post :)

I recently got the z270 Taicho mb with an 7700K intel cpu. Today I was messing around in the bios and I found out that the standard VCC PLL settings is 1.2 volts, while using any and all of the predefined OC profiles it sets it to 1.1 volts, which caused me to do some digging.

I've read the datasheet for the 7700K and it stated that the VCCPLL should be 1 volts, whith a maximum of 0.05 diff, which makes this mB a standard 1.95 overvolt? I contacted intel tech support, and they did confirm that the VCC PLL should be at 1 volt.

Here are some direct quotes from intel support:

"-And you are correct, this processor vccpll should be 1 volt with a maximum of 0.05 increase/decrease. And there are motherboards that automatically overclock the CPU, and I'm not sure if you can change it but, you might want to check this with the motherboard manufacturer. I have a case before that the MB manufacturer told my client that it;s not possible to change settings since its the default as the MB was designed.2:40:04 AM

So please do check with the MB manufacturer and see if you may change the settings manually or they can do it for you.

...You may have the ability to change the settings but we don't really know what would the impact be, it may cause issues so its best to check this out first with Asrock, so they can properly guide you."

Intel support was right, I could actually not set the volt below 1.1 volts. Temperatures dropped dramatically from 1.2, about 10 degrees but the temp difference between cores also increased from about 5 to 8 degrees.

My question to you guys, should I leave it at 1.1 and be happy with that? And most importantly, can I trust theese temp readings? (78c with prime95 v. 26.6 using dark rock 3 pro)

Greatly appreciate any input.

Thank you
