Asrock Z68 Extreme 7

I second that, fantastic looking board. Couldn't believe the quality on the heatsinks, really really nice. Having one problem though, and that it that my Logitech G510 doesn't seem to want to work in the bios, should be fixed in a bios update though I guess.

With your USB problem make sure it’s in a 2.0 port and check that (legacy USB support) is enabled in bios, I had problems with my Extreme4 board it would stop on bios screen with an error code every time I started the PC, but it was just the mouse been unsupported for some reason, The only thing I could do was disable legacy support and the computer would boot fine but then the keyboard wouldn’t work in bios then (Logitech G15) So I’m just thinking it could be the other way round for you..

I let my extreme 4 auto clock the cpu to 4.8 and Ram to 1866Mhz when its 1600 stock been like this for 3+ months no probs and the system gets hammered :)

Extreme 4 Vs Extreme 7 :)

What case is that btw? Sorry for new post blackberry won't let me edit my last post

Its a NZXT Phanton, good case for trifire as it has a large fan on side panel but cant fit a big cpu cooler on with side fan been so big, the h50 does a gd job for the size. What case you going to use.

I got mine yesterday(now that its well after midnight) but not had a chance to open it and look at it(thats all I can do with it untill I get the cpu and decide on the ram and order it).

crezzlin by your sig I notice you're using ripjaws, is that ripjawx? if so what cooler are you using? had a chance to get the 3 6950s up and running and whats the performance like?

I have the cpu(i2500k) on the way, can't decide on the ram tho.

due to the price of the red ripjawx(2 sets of 8gb kit @~£72) temptempted by that but not sure if the arctic freezer 7 pro rev2(will upgrade in the future, not sure if watercooling or not) will have issues with the fins.

the other option is the corsair vengence black lp.

didn't get the kingston hyperx genesis grey when they where @£40 as at that time wasn't planning on getting mb and cpu for a couple of months(but then they decided to put this mb up for 1 day only pre-order just days after the ram offer ended).

Hi yeah the X stuff, will run auto at 1866

Not had chance to try PC yet cant get the raid0 to work, have installed winows but on reboot cant find boot device :s Try again tomo when awake :)

You should set drives in bios to run on AHCI mode not IDE, then you install windows. This way you have both drives setup as RAID and windows installed on both your drives under RAID 0 and be able to recognize and boot up properly.

Thanks will try setting it to AHCI 1st then setup raid, I didn’t have this problem with the extreme 4 and the bios looks identical, :S Thanks!

just realised I'll have to upgrade my sound card, it's a pci(creative xfi extreme gamer) and there is only 1 pci slot which'll get blocked by the 2nd 6950.

I have logitech z5500 speakers so not wasting them on onboard sound ;)

what to get? will be mainly for gaming with watching iplayer etc, DVD/blueray will be done on the ps3.

This is the card i have with my Z5500 :) Love it!!

what's it like compared to the creative titanium? which is better for gaming?

I've got everything I need except for the ram(the i2500k arrived this morning), trying to decide between the red ripjawx 16gb(2x 8gb kits @ ~£72 unless the price jumps back to ~£75) but unsure of the clearence for arctic freezer 7 pro rev2 and future cooler upgrade(not decoded if watercooling), 8gb corsair vengence lb black or 8gb kingston hyperx genesis grey.

Hi im not sure but when i was looking for a sound card i was told asus was the best and creative have software problems.. i had a creative card with a asus rampage formula back in the day but had problems with that aswell.. never had a prob with this card, also have the pci version in my brothers pc and he loves it to.. Have my ps3 going into it then out again for effects etc :)

Yes its norm, as the new i7 runs a the minimum voltage and clock speed in windows until you give it something to do like a game or prime95 then the clock speed goes up and the volts to what the max voltage its set to, my bios temp is 50 with the H50 on so that’s normal once in windows it will be more like 30 :) at idle

So when your in the bios it will be giving the cpu its max voltage, sorry I’m crap at explaining things lol
