Asrock Z68 Extreme 7

I'm having issues with my phone plugged in via usb where i get a 'B4' error and the pc hangs before loading windows. When i disconnect the phone, the pc continues into windows. I'm, pretty sure I got a similar problem with an external drive plugged into the e-sata port.

Disable usb legacy in bios and it will boot ok.. Had that prob with the extreme4 still no fix..

Mine arrives tomorrow along with a whole host of other new toys, extremely excited.

Hoping to push the 2600K to around the 4.8 Ghz mark, anybody have some advice as to the settings they're using?

Cheers

sorry forgot to say that.. eah pain isnt it. my mouse hangs up starting pc so i had to set my bios up then just disable the legacy bit..

its easy just auto clock it in bios to 4.8, don't need to do anything else apart from what Mr V said about ram profile, if you overclock with a standard cooler the cpu temp will be about the same in windows unless you stress test all cores as the cpu idle is about the same as when at default clock speeds to overclocked :)

Am I right in thinking that Extreme4 (whatever the Gen might be) is effectively the same board as the Extreme7 but that the 7 board will have a bit more functionality as opposed to a raw speed improvement?

Yeah the Extreme7 just lets you use 3 GPU'S and also better spacing of the cards, about it really.. I’m getting better results with a extreme4 crossfire setup than I am with the extreme7 but only a little.

I give up with eyefinity on this board ive used every driver and combination of hardware with cross and trifire but cant get BF2 to run smooth :s will run with the extreme4 and crossfire no prob soon as i put the extreme7 in, it has a little bit of mouse to screen lag in game play so odd.. anyone else had any graphic problems? Ta

Ive had to change back to my old board, couldnt get crossfire and eyefinity to work just got mad screen tearing, soon as i put the old board back in even with the extreme7 windows on the hdd it works :s gutted as i love the board.. it did work perfect apart from the eyefinity problem :( was running at 4.8Ghz all auto no problem and low temps :)

well good to hear about the e-sata, what htc phone do you have? I have the original desire(not the hd, the one with the slide out keypad or the s).

crezzlin is it just the eyfinity you're have the problem with? does it work ok with xfire on 1 monitor?

hopefully I'll finally get around to swapping out the q6600 etc for the i2500k etc in a couple of weeks.

hi yeah just with eyefinity, works fine with 1display, i dare say if i had display port monitors it would work, just of that the extreme4 don't have the same proble,

must be gutted mate, hope they get it sorted soon. you could post on the TT forum and see if you can get an official response or get them to look in to the problem

4.8 sounds great :D is that on air?
hi sorry not been on for a bit, was running on a Craig h50 i think a good air cooler would do better. Hows yours

Pretty sure that I am settled on this board for my new system. I had ummed and ahhed about a couple but this seems to have the best slot layout for me to ultimately run Crossfire or SLi as well as having my Xonar D2X pcie soundcard in.

If the card doesn't fit in the top mini pcie slot, will it fit in the bottom full size pcie slot? Does the board turn off certain slots if Crossfire/SLi is enabled?

My SSDs and memory arrived today and once I am settled on the board etc, what is the procedure for setting up before installing Windows? I am sure I read somewhere that you have to do something with the SSDs before you put the os on.

Hi, all the PCIE slots work at once, i had my sound card in the bottom slot with crossfire, as for the ssd's they shoud just work! What model are they??

really? thats a shame... was still looking to get it

the features for the price are fantastic

Is there anyone who WOULD recommend this board as reliable?

I can! Running at 5GHZ now with a 6990/6970/6970 also Asus pcie sound card and killer 2100 lan card all running 24/7 no problems, only thing i had a problem with was the psu not cutting it under full load.. Now on a 1250watt psu and flying :)..

Nice to hear it is going well for you - not so good for me as I have a pig of a 2600K which wont even do a stable 4.6 without silly volts/heat, and this even under water. Oh well just have to face the fact I have a lousy cpu:mad:

What Ram do you have, all i use are the auto OC settings at 4.8 no probs, so was thinking it maybe your ram poss??

well after 2 weeks of having received my replacement from asrock I decided to get my thumbs out and get this thing built but again like my original attempt I'm struggling with fitting the back plate of the cooler(ocuk h2flo), my case(cosmos s) doesn't have a cut out on the mb tray where the cpu socket is so can't fit the mb into the case and do it that.

once I get the back plate fitted it shouldn't take me too long to get the rest done, I thought after my tussle with the back plate last time I'd be able to get it done easier. just hope I don't dame something on the board while trying to get the back plate fitted.

just put some double sided tape on the back plate to hold it in place, most come with some..
