Asrock Z68 Extreme4 LAN problem

I suggest you try a Linux that will run from a memory stick to eliminate Windows.

I thought I had a dead NIC after installing Win 7 64bit and plugging the cable into my gigabit NIC, turned out Win7 64 does not have a driver for it - so had to rever to the the 100MB port!

Are you using the same cable when testing with the laptop?

Is there any kind of NIC tester in the BIOS?

Does you have a chip with onboard graphic to try running without your graphics card? Do you have another graphics card to try - could even be a power consumption issue.

Good luck

Waiting on a cd drive (sata) to run linux, dont have a big enough memory stick. Though it is strange how windows was working fine and still says it is working fine.

Only an enable and disable in the bios

Using the same cables tried multiple combinations see below

Tried combinations of 5850GPU / onboard graphics / power supply is fine and stable (wont crash on prime with or without gpu / tried with both coolers stock and A70) / All with different combos of cables with nothing unessential plugged in.

The more time I spend with it, the more I suspect a defective motherboard.

it could well be a software corruption, although i do agree it seems more and more like hardware.
but i would deffo try and get something to test before the hassel of RMA.

Its knackered :/

Fresh install of Windows + original drivers that worked the first time around and its not working. (Tried this with multiple cables) Still the same old story, sees it in windows says it is working but does not detect an ethernet cable is plugged in.

Will request RMA, thanks very much for your time trying to help me guys, its much appreciated.

I have the same issue with my Asrock Z68 Extreme4 motherboard.

From what I've inspected, I've found there is a conflict in this board bewteen LAN and USB 3.0 port (maybe with USB 2.0 as well, but i'm not sure).

I'm not using any dedicated graphic card.

Try disconnecting any device from USB 3.0 and restart your PC, and your LAN will come back. Then you can connect back your USB device.

Updating to 1.5/1.6 ver. bios won't work.

Asrock won't reply to my emails.
My first and last Asrock experience.

As much as I could figure, it happens just when a device is connected to any of my USB 3.0 suckets. Maybe to some USB 2.0 suckets as well, but i'm not sure.

Anyway, updating bios to ver. 1.6 won't help.

I also found that when my PC is in sleep mode, and i'm disconnecting my mouse and keyboard to be used in another PC, i can't wake up back my Asrock Z68 extreme4 by connecting them back.

I must wake it up using the power button. That's some Sleep Mode USB connection loosing isue as well.

have you guys tried the latest etron usb driver? There is a newer one than the one that can be found at the asrock website.

Yeah, I've tried both:
Broadcom BCM57781 LAN Driver v14.6.1.0
EtronTech EJ168A USB3 Driver v1.1

Still not working for me, when a Samsung S2 2.5 500GB external HDD or a Microsoft Natural keyboard 4000 are connected to any USB 3.0 sucket.

Without them, I have a lan connection.
