Assassin's Creed - Rumoured System Specs

I find it hard to believe. Why would the PC version need 3GB when the 360 version can cope with less than a third of that!?

Because the Xbox360 is unalterable, dedicated hardware. It's much easier to make a game for that. Console specs are completely different to PC ones, a console will punch well above the equivalent on a PC.

The draw distance in Assassins Creed is excellent too, so it wouldn't surprise me. It's recommended, not Minimum.

With system specs that high Most PC gamers will not be able to play the game.... This means less sales and therfore less profitability. The developers would really be shooting themselves in the foot if this is true.

yeah i did think the story and game failed in the whole idea of an assasin who cant be seen yet is so blatently obious. But the gameplay was fun... till it got repetitive.
An enjoyable couple of hours then.
Great engine and I love the movement but they seem to have forgotten about the game part.

Because 32 bit Windows OS's can use up to 4GB:

However, you may only 'see' 3GB.

No they can't, it's taken up as adress space. (EDIT, not taken, It doesn't have enough adress space I mean)
and no single 32 bit app can use more than 2GB even if windows sees 3 gb or so.
PAE has been disabled & ignored since service pack 2 for xp:

Hey snowdog, enabling PAE (Physical Address Extension) switch which increases the Physical Address Space is pretty much pointless in Windows XP Service Pack 2 and Windows Vista since Microsoft has pretty much abandoned PAE support in the 32-bit versions of Windows XP Service Pack 2 and Windows Vista (This is because PAE is not compatible with DMA access, which can cause problems with some device drivers) and this only really applies to certain Server editions of Windows and as long as the application is designed for it.

And my own test of it:

You guys arn't getting it. I said it before. Vista is trying to be pushed as the norm. All new games have vista specs and xp specs or just vista specs it seems. That is 3gb for vista and it is the recomended not minimum. The console has just 1 set of hardware and all games are highly optimized. This has no baring on how the pc version will perform. They may have added new things into the pc version and better graphics to help it sell as most people would probably buy the console version anyway if that was the case.

3gb for a game to run in vista is hardly suprising. Right now im using 834mb without anything but mozila open. I dont have msn etc or even itunes open. obiously i know i have the os and thinsg in the background but no big programs. Running a 32bit 2gb of ram game on that would take me just under 3gb. I fail to see your problem. Seriously stop crying about it. What is the big issue? They arn't cutting out a big proportion of sales because the majority of people are still on xp who wont need more then 2gb.

Just move on geeze!

I have no issue, I'm just replying to others if they are wrong...
Why should I be worried, I'm not planning to sell 2 of my 4 gb's?
I have vista x64 for games that really need more ram, and believe me supcom does.

ive never noticed supcom eating my ram. well ive never checked but i never experiace slow downs and im always the first in the game and gota wait for others to load.

Play a campaing then for example, even in the first lvl of SC: FA there's the stutter when the operation area expands.

ive not done the campange ive just played online mainly with 6 or 4 people in the game all the settings turned up full. i think the difference is that your on a dual core and im on a quad.

Intel Pentium Core 2 Duo, or better processor

If they don't know that the 'Intel Pentium Core 2 Duo' isn't a real product I don't think that you can call their specs accurate, someone is making these up.

Cpu lag affects FPS, doesn't cause stutter with hdd light on.

Has anyone looked at the site?

1: a lot of spec requirements are still in Intel only, AMD is still smaller, not that odd saying it needs an intel or better, a lot of company's do this.
2: It's (only) a rumor.
3: It's ''recommended'', not minimal, minimal are these according to that side :

Minimum System Requirements:
* Windows XP or Vista
* 2 GB RAM
* Dual core processor (Intel Pentium D or better)
* 256MB Direct3D 10 compatible video card, or Direct3D 9 card compatible with Shader Model 3.0 or higher
* DirectX compatible driver
* DVD-ROM dual-layer drive
* 16 GB free hard disk space
* DirectX libraries (included)
* Vista compatible sound card
* Keyboard, Mouse
* Microsoft Xbox 360 Controller (optional)

Recommended System Requirements:
* Intel Pentium Core 2 Duo, or better processor
* 3 GB System RAM
* ATI HD2900 series, Nvidia GeForce 8800 series, or better video card
* 5.1 sound card
* Microsoft Xbox 360 controller

*Supported Video Cards at Time of Release

DirectX10 compatible cards, recommended ATI HD2900 series, Nvidia GeForce 8800 series

Direct3D 9 card compatible with Shader Model 3.0 or higher

and 4: the 3gb is probably with a messy Vista instalation kept in mind.

Rare examples I bet. They nearly always say 'Athlon X2' or 'AMD equivalent'...or just 'Dual Core'. Especially big companies like Ubisoft.

These are not the requirements; they are just someone’s guess and should be taken as such. Until Ubi releases the “actual” requirements it’s all just speculation :rolleyes:

No need to get irate just yet ;)
