Assassin's Creed Unity

I''ve been up since 7am and I've only just stopped playing it. Absolutely loving it so far! Had really good performance all day (Xbox One) with two or three minor instances of slowdown, but nothing game breaking.

The level of detail is brilliant, the variety of the side quests is nice too. I really enjoy the murder mysteries too.

If you cancelled your pre-order because of people throwing their toys out of the pram, you should seriously consider getting it, because if you like Assassin's Creed you'll love this.

It's honestly no where near as bad as the big, bad internet makes out - it's not 'broken' and plays well enough, it's just not nearly polished enough.

Yeah so far I havent had half the issues that seem to have been reported, I am getting some frame rate issues but that is about it.

Because they've pushed out like 2 or 3 updates since it launched elsewhere in the world. There are enough reports and footage online to suggest that the game was a lot more broken earlier this week.

I have just completed all the starter missions now and loving it. None of the issues reported have cropped up on the ps4 yet.

The scale and detail of the city is immense too.

As far as I can see there's only been the Day 1 patch, which I presume most people would've already downloaded.

I can see why people are annoyed with it, but honestly from the 'angry mob' comments everywhere you'd expect this to be a train-wreck of completely broken gameplay. It's simply not.

All the footage will be the 'worst bits' of course. I've witnessed some of them, but not found others which is to be expected.

There's no doubt it's been rushed to release though, I don't think anyone will disagree with that.

currently streaming if anyone is interested in watching a bit

I watched a bit of it, it looks fine, the only problem was frame rate dropping at climbing the windows, must be to do with too much detail to render, details that you can't see from that distance anyway so I think that could be a simple fix if they replace the texture on the windows or something. Other bits looked okay to me, I saw no characters flying or walking under the city. There was some pop ups, but nothing too drastic.

Yep, the frame rate drops a lot in a quite a few scenarios - mainly when there are a lot of NPC's milling around. If a fight breaks out then it properly dips and I've had a couple of occasions when I've completed missed my target as it catches up again.

The missing animation transitions are more annoying for me, as characters will be going about their business, then suddenly jump to a completely different position. Most annoying.

Not a fault, but I'm really miffed about the 'spiderman' quality of it though. Simply point him at a wall and he'll clamber up it with no problem at all. He literally crawled up one 4 meter high, smooth wall earlier. They've removed the stress and accomplishment you got from climbing up one of the syncronising towers, which is a shame and I hope it gets harder as I go through the game.

Rest is great though, I've not stopped exploring and playing it, which is always a good sign.

Is anyone using the iPhone companion app? I've downloaded it, but crashes when I try to login to my uPlay account. Any ideas? (I guess it's just the servers under pressure).

Decided to have a blast on this earlier, and have to say i'm very disappointed in the performance aspect of the game. It's stuttering real bad on the One, I can't say for sure but in places it feels like it's into single figures. It reminds of AC4 on the WiiU and that was borderline unplayable.

The stuttering is that bad in places that the audio even starts to crackle .... why bother with all the eye candy if the hardware isn't able to actually handle it :(

Smoothness > eye candy for me all day.

Still no issues on the ps4 and well into it now. The character customisations etc are great. Better than Shadow of Mordor imo. Own a couple of properties as well, the side missions from which have been great fun.

I've not seen too many issues so far, the frame rate does drop during some cut scenes, but aside from that the game is pretty good, combat is taking a little getting used to. I really like the climb up/down change.

I'm sure this game will take a back seat next week when I get my hands on GTA, so hopefully by the time I get back to it, there will have been a raft of patches.

My thoughts exactly, my main gripe is the frame rate, if they can improve it somehow to simply be more steady I think i'll really enjoy it.

I'm guessing we all have different standards for the frame rate issues, so it will annoy some and not others. As I said there's been a occasions where it's been noticeably bad but for the most part for me it's been fine. It's one of the best looking games on the console for me right now.

I wish the bloody initiates site would come back online again, and the Companion App, too! The Nomad Brotherhood on the app is greyed out to me, which is apparently effecting a lot of people.

Took a punt on this yesterday and so glad i did. Game is fantastic so far. Yeah, there are a few issues here and there but nothing like the 'gaming community' seemed to sell us. Few pop ins and very dodgy FPS on that one location with the stained-glass window, but otherwise it's a truly fantastic looking game with improved movement mechanics and the usual satisfying AC gameplay.

Not sure if you're on Android or iOS, but if you can, clear the app's data (on Android, not sure if you can do anything like that on iOS), then uninstall and reinsall, should fix it.

I have a problem with the companion app right now in that I've done some nomad missions and I have three chests that I am supposed to open, but they just will not open in game even though I'm synced up and everything.
