Assassin's Creed Valhalla

The game does an excellent job of making every task or activity feel like it fits. Linking them to the settlement is a great way to go about it. For example you don't just open up your menu and change your crew, you have to build the barracks first and go there. I like it a lot when games do that.

The only change I would make to the settlement(and it is great as it is btw) is a way to let you choose where to put buildings, even if it is just choosing between 2 for each space. At least that way everyone wouldnt end up, with exactly the same.

Yep I'd quite like it to have a region that you can place structures in that is free form. And with that wouldn't mind then having ability to place like statue/carvings and such decorative items.

Also would be cool to have watch towers and defenses that when you get so far in the game become important as you can have raids against you as well or similar. Just to add to it.

But generally it's been great in my view and glad it's been commercially successful.

I'm still getting those runes every time I log in!

Im really enjoying it now I'm fully in to it.

There are some areas I find it too shallow, and that's a shame, but overall it's excellent imo. Two things I just think could have more effort put in to them to make them less shallow - different traders should sell different items. It's a Shame that you travel the entire map and the trader there has the same stuff for sale. And I would have different horses have different attributes.

Also quick question - does anyone know if time of day makes a difference to fishing?

Still no physical disk from Ubisoft, I've raised a PayPal dispute now. Can't believe its taken this long.

Enjoying the game though. I skipped so much early on that I need to go back to, but I keep getting distracted. I'm currently in my first story arc to the south. Must be a huge game given how long that is taking. Got my new Q80T arriving on Saturday, this game really shines with HDR. I'm actually impressed how much they've improved the atmosphere/environment/lighting over previous titles. I've put about 10 hours in so far, but have barely scratched the surface.

One thing thats peculiar to me , is why they've taken out crafting arrows as you run around the world. Also....

good to see some well known English archaeology making an appearance...Sutton Hoo and Seahenge for example

Never noticed to be honest, depth of water seems to make a difference but I've never really paid attention to the time of day when catching the big fish

Wondered that myself. It was more realistic than finding random trees with a stash of usable arrows in :p

I wondered whether it was a perk you pick up later...I guess not then.

Sadly not and its a right pain when you turn up at a place where you need to shoot the lock off a door to get into a building and have run out of arrows :D

This game is bloody great. Any concerns I had prelaunch are pretty much gone. I'm 28 hours in, I've nearly done the first two arcs in England(did the Grantebridgescire arc first currently half 2ay through the Ledecester one) and upgraded the settlement a bit. Haven't done any legendary animals or killed any Order goons yet (except story ones). The World looks and feel phenomenal.

Think I might mix the combat up a bit now. I've been shield and axe so far all the way. I might grind Reda a bit so I can get the Scimitar in the weekly items... Talking of the ingame shop, I really don't mind it. I know it isn't great selling items in a full priced game, but the way they implemented it in Odyssey was actually really fun(they gave you 3 daily quest and if you did them you could afford a mystery box with a unique item in it). Unfortunately I don't see any mystery boxes in this though.

I started out as axe and axe...changed to axe and hammer (the offhand attack on that one is AWESOME - multiple hits and ends in a stun) , but am now on 2hand sword and a large heavy shield and that is decimating opponents whilst also giving me a really good full body defensive block with the large heavy shield.

OK trying to fight one of those armoured guys. The camera is nowhere near good enough. Dodge an attack and the camera goes mad and you have no idea where you are!
