Assassin's Creed Valhalla

67 hours in and I've killed all the Order of Ancients except
The Father
and I've not pledged to
Nottinghamshire or Hampshire yet
. I've got full Mythic Armor and Weapons. :)

I'm enjoying it. The world they've developed is impressive and one of their most atmospheric - the swamps, the mist, the snow, the glorious sunshine, rain, moonlight, it all feels very real (HDR really shines here). The story hasn't really gotten going much for me, but I like what I've seen so far. Really enjoying combat and especially dual wielding again - especially axe throw!

I'm not enjoying this as much as I enjoyed Odyssey. Not sure if covid caused development issues or something, but the game world feels a lot more empty. Settlements seem to just be a bunch of generic NPCs stood as round doing nothing, plus possibly a shop, and possibly people doing some of the contest mini games. Also, the story and characters haven't really gripped me in the same way yet.

Still enjoyable enough though. And it's scratching that open-world RPG itch I've had for a while.

Origins did this really well. There were lots of NPCs and they were always doing something - it was a CPU killer though.

Yeah, Origins had the most interesting and detailed world. I feel like there's a regress happening with each subsequent title. The map and grind get bigger but there's less actual quality content and details.

Makes me think I should maybe wait. I was only thinking about the standard edition with 20% discount but that's still quite expensive.

Best bet if you are unsure is to grab 1 month of Uplay+ for 12 quid, that gives you access to the Ultimate edition for a month, long enough to check it out

That's exactly what I wanted to do but Ubi requires a credit card for U+ which I don't use. I have both a bank account and PayPal bur can't pay with with either without giving CC details:/ I can only buy one-time purchases like games, it won't let me go through with the subscription.

Bummer, as I probably could focus on the game and finish it in a month.

Are you sure? I used paypal for mine.

Don't have a credit card on file with them.

Yeah, doesn't work for me even though I transferred enough there to cover three months of subscription. PayPal asks me to add a credit card while I can buy on eBay and the like no problem as long as I have enough funds in PayPal Credit.

Looks like its been a commercial success. According to the press release AC Valhalla has outsold every other AC title in history for sales in the first week and has actually sold more in the first week than any past Ubisoft game

I've just downloaded it. The armour and the pike weapon are great. I think they automatically level to you too when you download them

How the hell do you spruce up the longboat?

I'm assuming that was aimed at my post, I've added tags but apart from the name it doesn't actually give *anything* away. ;)

Maybe, maybe not.

But if you do it again I may well change your name to 'Moleydoespolierspoopoohead' ;)
