Assetto Corsa

I'm really enjoying the update the new track was very welcome I love it, I can't help thinking the new lotus is a bit to easy to drive though? I expected it to be more like the BF1 in Live For Speed which was an absolute swine but great fun.

The Lotus doesn't seem to have the instant power to spin the car on a sixpence if you get it wrong like I imagine a real F1 car would be like. What's other people opinions?

Best openwheeler driving feel wise, together with rFactor2 formula cars, they are also brill.

But AC's effort is just superb, great fun. I dont like GT2/3 cars - bad view from the cockpit, downforce makes them all feel the same, etc and wouldn't want loads of formula cars (much prefer road cars with their unique personality), but as a one off its a great addition to the game... If only Codemasters F1 2013 cars felt like this AC one:(

Potentially nooby question here but how do you change the skins? Those Honda skins look awesome.

??
Exige, Elise, different M3s, M1, Z4, Abarth. And how is r34 not a supercar? :)

I'd love some jap cars myself though - rx7, nsx, skylines, etc... Mod Mazda Mx5 is near copmletion, (see previous page of the thread).

I know they're road cars but you know whet i mean? Jap imports stuff like that! Would make it brill :p

Did 20-30 laps earlier around the Ring, great fun. Dealing with the downhill braking zone into T1 in some of the non ABS cars is really hard work, seem to have most luck pumping the brakes.
Tried the Lotus Exios, not much fun at all for me I'm afraid. I'll be sticking with the low downforce cars!

While I think most of the physics are spot on I think the brakes need a lot of work it's very hard to drive anything with no abs, there's just no modulation and feeling of getting close to locking the wheels it's very frustrating.

The vibration from the Mx5 is enough for me to know how the brake is working under my foot. Its not perfect but works well enough.

I'm not really sure how well that can be simulated in a game though, I've not played a single sim where braking felt just right. I guess they'll just need to maybe exaggerate some visual queues or something?

I know it must be hard for them to do, but the other sim I've played a lot of (Live For Speed) manages better than AC somehow I can't even explain what it is.

Also I think AC would really benefit from having brake pressure adjustment I hope they do it.

I also think the braking is the weak point in the physics.
It's hard to explain but pressing the pedal doesn't seem to match what is happening to the car. It either has almost no effect or locks the brakes.
Cadence braking is a good example as it seems to have no effect on the car.

I know about the Gain setting but that just makes the pedal mushy.

I've also noticed it's mostly G25/27 users but I could be wrong.

To me fast, high downforce cars aren't suited to PC sims. You have to have the reactions of a hyperactive 13 year old high on Haribo and cola to catch the darned things if you push them hard, because they hang onto the road really well right up to the point where they don't. And by the time normal human beings recognise they've gone too far, they're already on the way to the virtual hospital.

Slower cars, with less downforce and a fuzzier edge to the grip envelope are where the fun is to be found, and where our wheels & limited FFB stand a chance of giving us a chance to recover from mistakes.

Drifting F1 real life @ 2:30

Drifting F1 - possible in AC;) (excuse low gfx settings)

Make sure you press each of the pedals fully when you're in game for the first time to calibrate them, and use the AC pedal bars/meter app to make sure that your presses are correctly registered ingame.

Ah so you're one of the moaners are you?

Well you're getting the Corvette C7 for free and if you decide to buy the Dreampack then you will get the C7.R with the ring.

*pukes* :D
I'd prefer some Jap cars personally.

As you have probably noticed, since the beginning Assetto Corsa was primarily centered on European content. There are several contributing factors as to why this is, first of which is location of Kunos Simulazioni R&D; having been working on this project in the past four years with limited resources and budget it was easier for our development team to access the cars and tracks found near the studio.
Despite the current European focus of Assetto Corsa we are suprised to see that a big part of early access sales has come from the U.S.A. Thank you so much for your support!

Well, we have decided to thank all the American people (and all of our patrons) for the great support they have shown our game with a new exciting license addition: Assetto Corsa welcomes the Corvette! The new amazing C7 Stingray 2014 will be added to Assetto Corsa as a free content, and the incredible and beautiful Corvette C.7 race car will be part of the Dream Pack that will include ten cars and the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife! We will keep you updated with the work in progress on these new exciting car models: ciao America!
