Assistance Needed!

I've just got a OCZ Vertex 4 and the OCZToolbox is not updating the firmware. It goes through the motions, but once rebooted, the firmware is still 1.3??

Any ideas?

Do you get the confirmation message to say it worked ?
This says it won't work with Intel RST drivers...

It said that it was successful and I needed to power-cycle.

I didn't get a pop-up, it just said it under the firmware update progress bar.

That's what I got as well. Bizarre.
Internet connection must be OK. Could it be just a reporting error ? Is there another tool to query the firmware ?
Alt: Did you get the performance that this indicates ?

I haven't tried it yet. Just plugged it in and straight to firmware update. Think I'll install windows and see how it goes. It's a brand new drive so covered by OCZ warrenty. Could try updating the firmware via my laptop with a USB SATA adapter.

Seen these ? Sounds like a mobo driver issue. You may need to update those drivers.

I'll give it a go once windows has been installed. I'm now using Intel drivers, so slightly confused as to why this has happened. I've now got an issue with my old SSD. Wont let me format it. Comes up with 'windows annoys format the attempt partition on this disk'. Just to keep me on my toes.

Aha. My first link talks about probs with the Intel drivers. Perhaps only use windows drivers and try again ?

This is eaxctly what the people said in the links I posted. It's a MoBo driver issue.

In device manager, open IDE ATA/Atapi
click drivers tab
click update drivers button
choose ' look at your computer'
choose 'let me pick the driver'
choose the driver named msahci (in C:/windows/system32/drivers)
it will take some time and a couple restarts to get the new (old) drivers ready but you then can install 1.4. Also, I found in another thread that after installing, wait for a few minutes (I waited 5 minutes) before restarting.
Now if I can just get it recognized in the bios as a bootable device. "

Lol. Completley missed that bit of the forum. Thanks for that. Will I've it a try when I get home.

Unfortunately, this doesn't work in Windows 7. Once you have removed the driver, it asks you to reboot. Once you've rebooted, it re-installs it the driver with the same one. You can't choose a specific driver, but a file which contains multiple drivers.
